Today is my day off and also wash day. I was thinking it would be fun, and good for my hair, to do a treatment before washing. I was thinking protein+moisture. I have a deep moisturizing Mane&Tail conditioner and also the VO5 strawberry milk conditioner. Both contain protein. Could I use them as a protein moisture treatment? Which one would be better and how should I apply it and for how long? Thank you in advance! :)

I have done protein treatments with my aubrey organics GPB by saturating my hair with it and putting on a plastic cap for about 30min. If you want it to be more moisturizing you could add honey and olive oil to the mix or do an SMT with it.

Thanks! That conditioner looks a little heavier than what I have, but similar. Is there a max time I can leave it on? I don't want to do more harm than good.

I don't really think there is a max time, especially because the conditioners you are using do not have tons of proteins.

I decided to go with the VO5 strawberry. I detangled and Boar brushed it, then completely saturated my hair with water and the conditioner, combed it through, and bunned it. Its been in about 3 hours now. Can I just rinse it out and be done? Or do I need to rinse and then wash and condition? I want to reap the benefits of the protein and moisture, but don't want build up.

Hi,
I often use conditioner for a deep treatment. Sometimes I add some VOO or Aloe Vera Gel. (My hair doesn't like honey.)
I just leave the conditioner (or the mixture) in my hair for longer time (between 1 and 4 hours). Afterwards I just wash it out, without any additional CO.
When I was reading about protein and moisture treatments some time ago, it was recommended to do protein treatment first and afterward do a moisture treatment. But unfortunately I don't remember why...
