Spiked hair-condition or not?

I wear my hair in the back and on top in a short, spiky style. I use Paul Mitchell Awaphui Shampoo, but have been skipping conditioner (PM The Detangler) so as not to weigh my hair down and keep it from spiking. Someone suggested I condition once a week. So I need some advice-condition my hair with every shampoo or only occasionally?
P.S. I use a matte clay and then a strong hold hairspray to style. The hairspray really dries out my hair.

I'd mist a light coconut oil diluted with water at night on your hair do this every night.

I guess it's a matter of trying out what suits you best. There are no rules as far as conditioning goes that I'm aware of. :shrug:
