I googled longest hair and found this video about some people who have extremely long hair. It's interesting if you can get past the disrespectful commentary on the vid. Here's the link if anyone wants to see it.

You know, I kinda think that is unfair, personally. I mean, It's not really the world's longest hair, IMO, but the worlds longest single Loc.

I mean, he's probably got seventeen generations of hair there... grow, get dreaded, shed, still stuck in the loc, grow another hair from the follicle, etc... The stuff at the end isn't attached anymore, which To me, seems unfair. Sure, if we collect every hair we've ever grown and stick it end to end, it'll be freaky long, right? But that doesn't mean it's the world's longest hair. At least, that's my $.02

Still, though, tis an amazing bit of growing. Thanks for the Vid. :)

Thank you for sharing, AerisDawn. The Indian lady's hair is spectacular! I agree, it's pity about the disrespectful commentary.

Ummm, ok, I thought that hair was disgusting. Am I the only one? :scared:

It was just 2 people with some long and nasty dreadlocks. They were beating the womans hair and dunking it in a bowl to clean it. Ew.

Thanks for sharing, it was interesting, but not the kind of hair that I would be proud of. My two cents.

That's what I thought too Manderly, to be honest.
Beating the hair to make it "clean", um, brrr

Yeah--I checked it out--the audio commentary was tres sarcastic. I think he doesn't seem to get that his company would not have paid him to go visit these exotic locations if there weren't someone doing something out of the ordinary (like growing hair & nails). The hair might not be the most beautiful--but the owners like it.

I wonder what the world record is for longest well-groomed, un-tangled and good-looking long hair?

I wonder what the world record is for longest well-groomed, un-tangled and good-looking long hair?

Diane Witt at one time held the world record.

Glad everyone enjoyed the video. I agree that they didn't have the most beautiful hair in the world. In my perfect world, everyone could grow hair as long as Diane Witt (thanks Tammy Sue!) and your hair would never get dirty or tangled.. :cloud9:

As of 2004 it looks like Xie Qiuping (http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/human_body/extreme_bodies/longest_hair.aspx).

Even Diane Witt's seems too long to be practical (in terms of taking care of it). I mean, obviously she'd have to wear it up all the time--otherwise she'd trip on it every two seconds.
Cindy Lauper had hair to her ankles (wasn't it her? I remember seeing her on Sesamie Street as a kid, :lol) It was gorgeous, but apparently she got terrible backaches from the weight.
Personally, I'm going for about tailbone length...past that I think *my* thin hair would get too straggly to be pretty anymore. I mean, I'm not going for any kind of record or anything, I just think long hair is beautiful...but if my hair length got to the point where it took me an hour a day to care for it, well, I'd be done. Maybe I'm lazy, eh?

Cyndi Lauper (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/75/342469977_e63572c550.jpg)? Do you mean Crystal Gayle (http://image.fishpond.co.nz/081227828226.jpg)? They were both on Sesame Street.
