Well, I certainly don't remember seeing any other Shinigami with bright red hair, and we know it's his favorite color (and we know he's no stranger to tweaking his look).
I would guess his natural color is more like what he was sporting in the first couple episodes of the anime, when he was in Butler mode.
Now, if only we could get one of those magical combs that allows you to grow and change the color of your hair in seconds with zero damage!

An now I am speculating about Black Butler hair on an LHC board. It's so early, and yet my day is already made! :p
