Cool idea, thanks for sharing! :) I think if I were to try that the headband would come out in the middle of the night though, haha
I have a couple headbands like the one she uses but they never stay in!! Always slipping upwards and off my head, so sad.

i wanna try it.. i would think since there hair is wrapped around it that it would stay in.. the little girl looked 8 and she kept it in all night! hahah it wouldnt hurt nothing to try one night when u have nothing else to do the next morning that was if it looks a hot mess u can just wash it out! lol

I've tried it. My hair is too thick? Too layered? Too already curly? to set any curls. But I did find a way to make the wrap look nice and it's one of my updos now!

It would stay in because the hair is wrapped around it so it's got no place to go.

I've tried it before. And man did it ever give me gorgeous curls!! My curls never hold though...but I did it after a shower for fun without any gel or anything so next time I want to put aloe vera gel in first then try it...and leave it on for over a day, just make it neat enough that I can wear it during the day and sleep on it.

Oh wow, my first post!:D
I've tried this one several times and am always amazed by the curls. My hair is about BSL and does not curl with heat (who needs it anyway!) and doesn't keep a curl with other methods but THIS... they stay all day and well into the next. I'm even able to brush them and they reform!
Sleeping this way will give you tight, springy curls in the morning. For something more loose, I've left them in for as little as 20 minutes and had pretty curls all day long. The trick seems to be to only use a very light mist of water (if you're spraying, as opposed to post wash).
Geez, what a rant! Good luck!

Interestingly, when I was at Nordstrom yesterday the nice (and rather longhaired) saleswoman showed me a similar technique for keeping hair contained outdoors-- she did it with a bigger ear-warming type headband, and didn't wrap so neatly, as the point wasn't to get all the hair spiralling around the headband for curls but just to keep the hair from being whipped around by the wind. I don't need curls, but I think I will try the outdoor version.

This is the video where I first learned the technique (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYxS1ohz4Ao)

and then I saw this picture (http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/10/hair-20.html)

So I do a bit of a hybrid. I still start my twisting near my part, but I move the headband back onto my hair. Only a little bit of the band shows and no one was the wiser...until I pointed it out. : )

That looks so easy I think even I could do it! :D Next time I'm out and about I will be on the lookout for a headband.

I tried it today and the front looks great but the back didn't really curl at all. :/ I probably just did it wrong. My headband was super tight though and I was afraid I was going to break my hair. It also gave me a headache.
