Hello people,

I want to learn how to do a very tight, shiny and elegant low bun like this one:

It's for latin dancesport competition, so I would like it to be really shiny. Any help will be more than welcome. Similar looks welcome too!! :flower:

To me it looks like a pony with some strands wrapped around the elastic, then the pony pinned underneath. You can use a clear hair shine serum available at salons and maybe some regular stores to increase the shine.

If you google you tube chignons you should get a lot of choices of similar looks. You can use shine products if yiu need. Amember here let me know what she uses. Ill check on it later if you are interested.

It looks like they:

1. Applied a ton of serum to the hair. (Can be replaced with more natural products if you want).
2. Pulled most of the hair into a tight ponytail. Left a bit out at the nape.
3. Pulled the pony tail almost all the way through an elastic.
4. Covered the elastic by wrapping the bit of hair at the nape around it. Pinned that in place at the nape.
5. Hairsprayed and shellaced until it was a nice shiny helmet. XD

If you have naturally shiny hair, I'd just try a bit of oil in the hair or a high gloss conditioner. Should give the same effect.

Would styles similar to these work for you? The second link looks similar to the second picture you posted (I'm not style guru, though).

Braid-Wrapped Chignon (http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com/5-minutes/braid-wrapped-chignon-cute-updos/)
Hair-Crossed Bun (http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com/5-minutes/updo-hairstyles-hair-crossed-bun/)

I get the best sleek results when my hair is a little dirty and use a bit of oil. :)

The others have already detailed how to do this style. If I were you, I'd look for a shine spray instead of a serum, though, and spray it on after you arrange your hair. Those serums add a ton of slip, and it's hard to get hair to stay where you want it after applying them.

This! Also, I've notice that my hair is shinier if I do a cold water rinse.
Good luck!
