I have an odd question. I have to wear a cpap mask to bed and the problem I have is if I don't wear a high pony tail to bed the top strap slips and my mask loses it's seal and leaks air. The problem is I don't wash my hair every day and If I want to wear my hair down I have this ugly bump/wrinkled appearance to part of my hair where the hair tie was. The mask also wreaks havoc on my hair since I've been trying to grow it out. Any suggestions on what I can do to save my hair?

Thanks so much!:undecided

Oh wow, have you tried putting your hair above the mask, like you are going to make a ponytail, but do not use a hair tie? Or maybe you could get a cap of some sort to put your hair in? You could even cushion the strap with cloth so it does not put pressure on your hair and cause breakage.

I had to do a google image search to see what that was ...
I would recommend a silk sleeping cap with a wool beanie on top. Then the straps lie on the wool beanie instead of your hair.

I agree with the sleep cap. However if you don't mind braid waves, which can look lovely, you could try twin braids aswell.

I use a cpap and I wear these (http://www.google.com/imgres?q=pony+scrubs&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=709&tbm=isch&tbnid=A4Hu0eXzeO9xTM:&imgrefurl=http://flipoutmama.blogspot.com/&docid=m-rZLXhCcEBLxM&itg=1&imgurl=http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lD8iQpPiMBM/Tt4ya1ttevI/AAAAAAAADSM/n_2szheT8II/s1600/pony%252Bhat.JPG&w=318&h=360&ei=pnvlTu__OezYiAKH8eXLBg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=349&vpy=284&dur=654&hovh=239&hovw=211&tx=114&ty=116&sig=102192714421550898153&page=1&tbnh=147&tbnw=130&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:0). My cpap has two straps, one that goes over the top of the head and one down low under my pony scrub, like this one (http://www.google.com/imgres?q=cpap&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=709&tbm=isch&tbnid=xfc3ho0hSFw2DM:&imgrefurl=http://www.mycpap.com/ResMed-SwiftLT-forHer.html&docid=qWAc0IJiFMIiEM&imgurl=http://www.mycpap.com/cpap-masks/swift-lt-her-main-2.jpg&w=278&h=268&ei=53vlTtPKDq_JiQLLhfTKBg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=876&vpy=278&dur=810&hovh=214&hovw=222&tx=103&ty=154&sig=102192714421550898153&page=6&tbnh=153&tbnw=154&start=87&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:87).

ooooooh justy! I love that mask!! It wouldn't leave the dreaded forehead lines like the one my cpap came with! Hence why it's sitting in my closet and not in use!!

And the pony scrubs are a great idea, dunno if I could wear them and be comfy enough though. Are they made out of the same scrub material? Isn't it kinda tough?

ETA:

*hijack* do you guys really use distilled water every night in yours? That seems A) expensive, and B) a P.I.T.A! I would want to use tap water but maybe filter it myself to try to get some of the ickies out? I just can't see myself going to the store and buying distilled water in the jugs and lugging them home all the time.

The pony scrubs are made out of soft cotton and not rough at all, they tie under the little pony thingy.

And yes I use distilled water in my cpap and in my oxygen humidfier (bubble bottle). Otherwise it would cause a horrible build-up in both machines. I also use about 12 ounces of distilled water as a final rinse after washing my hair. It keeps all the minerals from sticking to my hair. I use maybe a gallon of water a week.

I never even considered a sleeping cap. That makes sense. Mine is a full mask in that it covers my nose and mouth, has two velcro straps (one across top of head and one at base of neck.) and so does terrible things to my hair when I sleep. A cap would keep my hair protected (It's over processed and dry now so any little help I can get is a plus). Now I just need to buy a cap. Distilled water is definitely recommended. I ran out and started using tap water and now I have nasty lime deposits in my humidifier. The type of resevoir container I have doesn't open up for cleaning (stupid design) but thankfully I have a spare to use now that the other is nasty icky looking.
