Now, i know i have posted about this before but, Piper from Charmed is my all time favorite actress and i would like to know, what do you think her natural color is? I am pposting a few pics to give an idea of the different colors she has at times. What level would her natural color be considered? Warm or cool, that sort of stuff. Yeah i know this isnt an exact sciencce but i saw the thread on the looong platinum blonde hair and wanted to do one for my favorite brunette.

This looks far too dark to be natural?

This may be right? Or is it too light?

Maybe this ?
you dont have to go by the pics, just please make an educated guess.

My guess would be the middle, lightest shade.
Tho that picture she appears to have some subtle blonde highlights added.
But I would guess that shade of brown is her natural,
And she went deeper brown to make the color richer and shinier.
Just my guess,of course!

I've watched a lot of Charmed episodes, her hair looked like a level 5 neutral, slightly faded ends though. The second photo looks like she has tiny highlights or natural greying.

i would believ that! That middle pick is also my natural color as well (minus the blonde) and i was sooo dissappointed when i read that she had naturally dark brown hair on some stats site, (it was a no name made up site that was just guessing and has obiously not seen enough pics.) I dye my hair that dark bottom color (sometimes as dark as the top to make it last longer) for the same reasons you say she does and my hair is cut like that, just curlier and frizzier (i would bet she has ii/iii wavy (2b/2c or 2a hair naturally!) as you can tell, i love her hair!
I had always thought until i actually looked, that her hair was almost black and she lightened it but, the light brown color looks too natural to be lightened, it lacks the (yes i know my hair is dark but i lightened it anyway wierdness look)

I feel like she probably has a naturally dark ashy blonde/light cool brown and gets a demi-permanent colour in a richer brown done, with a few fine highlights

Just to say, it's perfectly possible to be greying at 28, or even earlier. My friend Shell was almost all white at 20. :flower:

I am also a level 5 although I have a lot more ash tones than 'Piper' does. I think she has a lot of golden tones.

Lol yeah my hair is naturally level 5 with lots of gold, like Piper, but also like her, i get it dyed dark. I wonder, are people comenting on the pics i posted or actually trying to guess at her hair color? lol I know it is possible to go gray at 28 or ealier but, if you watch the episode, there is no grey at all, not even hints of it, i have seen that exact shot on the episode , it does not actually look like that and it is the the way the screen shot was taken that made it look like that.

I started to get grey random strands as a teenager...

ETA: how about her hair on video? :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMTFGr1khIA

According to the rules, we cannot fight in the forum, and I don't wish to anyway. I just post where I find things interesting really. :p

I think her hair is light brown. You actually inspired me to catch the episodes I didn't watch. :)

I have and still do watch the episodes like 100 times over, i LOVE Piper (oh and i want Leo!) I am actually suprised that so many people who have seen the show and know of Piper think her hair is light brown, i always saw it as naturally dark (mostly because of mouse-brained sites who make stuff up) i actually thought she lightened it. Now though, looking at it, her skin tone is similar to mine and my hair color is wha you are saying hers is naturally. I dont think i actually know how to tell the color of hair. How did you come to your conclusion of Piper's hair? Oh and hope you enjoy ur uncaught episodes and i did not know you could get into trouble for arugeing ont he forum, thanks for the tip.

I'd call her hair color light to medium golden brown.

I watched the video and I can definitely see why there are quite a few members on LHC who like her hair. So straight and thick. :)

Yeah, i have the thickness, just not the straight all the time. If you watch any more episodes, her hair is like thick, then flatter, i really think she flat irons her hair. It might naturally be 2b/2c or something like that. But, it is definitly gorgeous and my sole inspiration for long hair. I swear, one day i post a pic of my own hair on here, it looks like hers is i can brush it smoother.

I think a lot of people think dark blonde is light brown. Light brown is actually quite brown. But yes, the roots are a bit darker, and indoors (and poorly lit) her hair looks dark brown.

I've been studying color levels for years, but I'm an amateur (not professional). Another picture of light brown hair (http://makeupforlife.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/kristen-stewart-as-bella-swan-in-twilight2.jpg). If you feel it's too light for you is fine, however, dark brown dye boxes show up nearly black on real people's hair.

she's been that same chocolately brown since her Picket Fences days, actually (which is not to say she hasn't been color-enhancing since then, of course)

I don't really know her at all but after looking her up on imdb I think she's a level 4 (possibly 3). In this picture her roots are rather darker than the highlighted portion. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1939717888/nm0001061
Also if you look at the pictures of her in older movies when she was younger, her hair is pretty dark:

Like I said before, a lot is the lightening. Remember the OP is also looking into dyes and a 4 would be way way too dark. A level 4 does not give a "chocolate color". My mom colors her grey with a 3 and turns out black, very black.

She may be lightening to cover the grey , a lot of brunettes end up doing that because dyed brown over grey can be flat looking .

I was only responding to what the original question is- what is the actress' natural color. I agree that if the OP wants the actress' lightest color in the pictures provided it would be a level 5, which matches the level 5 in this chart: http://www.skincaretalk.com/hair-care-talk/10791-what-your-natural-hair-color.html

I think Kristin Stewart's color in the picture matches the level 4.

ETA: I do agree that hair dye comes out usually darker than intended, so that needs to be factored in. However I notice that on the Loreal Excellence website (http://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/default.aspx#/?page=top{userdata//d+d//|diagnostic|main:pdp//objectid+HCo6_3//{pdp_tab:pdp_overview//objectid+HCo6_3//}|media:_blank|nav|overlay:_blank}) a level 3 is considered natural black (they consider levels 1,2 and 3 to be differing level of black though so they're pretty silly ;) ).

Lianna

I'm sorry but that chart is way off. The level 5 is a level 6, neutral. The level 7 is way too light. The light brown picture I provided is one of the most acurate lights browns in real people (not charts) I've seen. I've been changing my color from light brown (5) to dark blonde (6) to medium blonde (7) for over 10 years.

Do not rely only on charts, go with your guts. Think "light brown" and "dark brown" for a second. That's exactly it.

OP: If you want the color the actress has when she is indoors without the best professional lighting, you can consider dark brown (however, use a level 4 dye to achieve it).

ETA: the actress roots start like the middle hair and fades to the last, gradually: pic (http://img.alibaba.com/wsphoto/v2/492675777/Dark-Brown-22-inch-Straight-Ponytail-Wig-Hair-Piece-Extension.jpg). Seems natural to me, with weather variation. Ignore the faded ends on that pic.

ETA: not as warm (red) though, her tone is neutral...to slightly warm. Very visible here (http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/cbb/2008/05/22/hollymariecombs_0154_cbb.jpg).

Thanks guys, i apreciate the help. I already have my hair dark brown but, i just have been wondering this color thing for a while. I truefully think that her hair was light brown in older movies (sweet hearts dance era movies she as in) but once she got older she either went darker or her hair grew in darker. I just personally LOVE her hair, whatever the color, besides, the color changes so frequently even on the show that i dont even know what to call her color. Thanks for the pics guys! here found this website,http://www.hollymcombs.com/early_pictures.html
the hair color varies even here, again am guessing she experimented with dark hair dye but then again, that pic of her really young is pretty dark but the light brown looks natural too...so confusing lets just go with brown dyed darker.

28 isnt young to be getting grey hairs! many get grey in there teens!

Id say she is probably a dark blond naturally and dyes it a light chocolate colour to give it more richness, its a lovely colour either way :)

Yes, it is lovely isn't it? I feel i have scewed what people are seeing here, but, here is a pic of her with darker hair. If you have seen the show (Charmed) you know who she is and could probably see more of her hair color on the show. http://emagic.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/hollymariecombs.jpg

https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS7wiBKeHxsDDV1GK-F-fqlDSllbR-dfgy-eo-3FQwfT-G9Lnfxh3NK_DE 2 different shades of brown, both pretty, does this change anyone's view? i personally think the light brown is right though. Just wanted to give a more all-over view of her colors through different times.

Different lights make a lot of difference in hair color, specially the light brown/dark blondes. The second one barely has any light, same with a lot of the series. After all it's kinda of a dark serie. ;) I mainly remember her hair from inside the house, which showed the neutral tone quite well. My own example, same color, different rooms in my house:

Yeah, i understand. The only reason i was reluctant to believe the light brown thing is because every site i have seen listed her hair as dark brown, again, she is famous and must have a really good colorist and good lightening. Now, look at the pics again, i am believing you guys only because my hair is similar to what you say her natual color is and when i dye my hair dark (nearly black) as hers is in some pics, the results are similar in the skin tones. Did that make sense? point is, i know when she has dyed her hair too dark because it is just as obvious on me. Heres are pics straight from her twitter page, https://twitter.com/#!/H_Combs/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2Fyl5rQ8hOthe yes i dyed my hair too dark, can you tell? Look. She is the one on the left.
Here is a more recent pic,https://twitter.com/#!/H_Combs/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2F5Ysfve this looks agian like dark roots and lightening grown out, too much time in the sun and natural highlights?

I think she might have dyed her hair, I don't remember it being so light in the show. I'd say it was neutral light brown in the show and dark blonde in the last picture, warm toned (maybe a shade in between). But she did have some faint, very faint natural sun bleaching.
