Ok, so I did a new style bun today, mainly because nothing is holding in my hair anymore and I wanted to do a stick but that would last all day.
I have always loved the hypno-bun look (give your props to hypnotica), and I need to do a bun higher up on my head because I have a rather big knob at the base of my skull and any stick or pin resting there soon causes pain, so...
I divided the top half fromthe bottom half, did a hypno-bun with the top half and let the tail hang down with the rest of my length.
Then I divided the bottom half in two vertically (including the tail), taking the left part I twisted it clockwise and wrapped it up, over and back down the bun, and let that tail hang, repeated with the right side only wrapping CCW, then proceeded to continue, alternating sides until all the length was used up, secured the ends and took a picture. I later secured it with two small spin pins at the bottom, but it was pretty secure before that. It has stayed ALL DAY and never came loose at all or caused any pain. It looks a bit messy, but I rather liked it and I loved how my color variations played out in it, too.
It was a bit time consuming for me (I prefer ten second buns) but worth it for comfort and stability. Of course a picture or two, taken in front of our Christmas tree for fun, sorry about the poor lighting, I was in a hurry!
