What do you use to put your wet hair up?

Hairstick. :)

I keep getting such obvious answers here.
What KIND of hairstick? I just realized that I can't use any of my new hair toys with wet hair!

Can you use horn in wet hair?

Sorry, I wasn't getting anything better in my head at that moment.:o Honestly I use a cheap wooden hairstick. Probably isn't made for wet hair. Some wooden hairsticks ARE sealed against moisture and the manufacturer will probably state that.

Otherwise, I know people use acrylic ones in wet hair. And I've heard dymondwood is safe in wet hair, but I've never tried it.

I'm sure hair pins and hair scroos and the like are also ok with wet hair, but again, no experience.

ETA: Don't use horn. It'll get soft and warped, and possibly start to smell. After all, it is essentially hair itself.

I use an ouchless hair elastic.

I use a metal Quattro stick or an acrylic Ketylo most of the time. Otherwise I use Amish pins, Hair Scroos or a Goody Comfort-Flex barrette.

I use an acrylic hair stick. Sometimes if I can't find it I'll use a cheap wooden hair stick that I don't care about. But I hate putting my hair up while it's wet, so I try to avoid it.

If I do put my hair up while fresh from the shower, I always use a double-pointed bamboo knitting needle (this is also my hair stick of choice for dry hair). I bought a pack of five needles for less than ten dollars, so no biggie if they fall apart. Still usIng the first two out of the pack.

I use an elastic and hairpins, and because I wear a headcovering anyway, I just twist a hairnet over my bun a couple of times and press it flat. That keeps all the loose ends very nicely contained.

I was wondering though, is there any potential problem with putting up your hair when it's wet? Someone I know was warning that it could get mildewy! :disgust: I do it all the time, so that makes me kind of nervous.

I use an elastic, but I try not to put my hair up when wet because I'm afraid it might break.

I braid my hair, or leave it be. My hair tends to NOT like being touched at all, when wet.

I use spin pins. And sometimes small claw clips.

Spin pins! Or if I want to put it up in the shower, I have some cheap plastic hair sticks from Claire's that I use. They are about 7 inches long and stick out waaay too much, so I never use them anywhere else.

I either braid it and put it up in a cinnabun with a few bobby pins, or I put it up in a nautilus bun using a stainless steel stick.

Spin pins or a teak (water-resistant) fork. Ketylos have been okay in damp hair, too.

Spin pins work the best for me. In a pinch, I'll use a hair tie, but I prefer not to.

In the shower I just use a chopstick... and I picked up some kids chopsticks so it doesn't look quite so dramatic for going out.

Scrunchi is what I use.

When I do put my hair up wet, I usually use this plastic sort of fork-pin-thingy I have. I think it's a french twist pin or something like that, can't remember. I use it for loads of updos otherwise too. :p

I do a pin-up with bobby pins, like making lots of pin curls.
Usually I don't put my hair up while wet, though. I leave it hang while it dries or do a loose-ish braid.

I tend to only do my hair when damp, not wet. I tend to just do a braid with an ouchless elastic or a bun with an acrylic hairstick.

Nothing! If I put my hair up when wet it would never dry...

I usually use dymondwood, hairstick or a 60th street fork.
Or flexi...or ficcare...I heavilymist my hair before making any updo, so I guess my toys always get water exposure.
Never had any trouble.
Only one dymondwood hairstick has turned a bit dark, from denimblue to dirty green now.
But that can also be from being exposed to daylight 24 hours per day.
(it's my fast stick, always up for grabs in the bathroom.)

When I take down my hair I make sure to properly dry the hairtoy if necessary.

I don't actually use anything...If I have wet hair and want it up, I twist it into a knot bun.It stays, until my wavys get dry and then it slides out.

I use a claw clip. I don't really like hair sticks very much, so it works well for me. :)

I think I might need to find some acrylic sticks or something.. I only have a couple cheap bamboo sticks that I am not concerned about damaging, and they are so long that they are annoying.

I'll typically use a scrunchie, but once in a while I'll use a claw clip.

What KIND of hairstick?

Am I the only one who finds this answer annoying?

I use wooden sticks (well oiled) and Quattro hairsticks, Flexi8s and Ficcares, spin pins (scroos) and Amish pins for wet hair. Everything except for horn.

Duckbill clips in the shower, chopsticks at home, spin pins out & about (^(oo)^)v

I use homemade wooden (bamboo I think??) chopsticks, big plastic claw clips and loose braids. The braids are then tied with cut up nylon looking hair tyes or are silk wrapped and then I put a hair tye on.

For me, it's either spin pins, braids with metal-free hair elastics, or loose. I've tried those ouchles polyband things - they keep eating my hair more often than not, wet or dry. They're pretty much ignored at this point.

I use a short double-ended knitting needle. It's metal, so if you're worried about damaging wooden sticks, it's a good option. It's about all I'm using to put my hair up at all these days.
