Today, I saw a woman with beautiful white 1b hair that was between WL and HL. It was in a half-up. The roots were snowy white, and the hair verrrrry gradually transitioned to pale gray at the ends. :crush: I really wanted to say something to her, but I chickened out. But I did comment to SO, who was with me, that I thought it was really pretty, and he agreed. :) He said he's always loved older women with long hair and could never understand why they cut or dyed it. It's nice to hear those sorts of things outside of LHC! :)

I love long white or silver hair. :) So beautiful, and I can't wait until mine starts to become more noticeable.

Me too!! Mine is turning SOOOOO slowly. :sad:nono: That's why I want to henna for a while. Rock the red and hopefully by the time I'm tired of it, I can grow out a lovely mane that's 70% white and 30% brown, not the other way around.

I love this look. I know a few women with shorter hair who have let it gray naturally, and I think it's stunning. Hoping mine will look that good when the time comes! :)

I saw a lady outside a shop handing out pamphlets with 1c waist length silver and white hair. It was in a highish pony and was gorgeous to look at while I was waiting for an appointment.

She had her back to me so the best thing was she never caught me "hair perving" :D

Seconded. Long white hair is so gorgeous! I wish I'd inherited more of my father genes, then I'd be at least 50% white by now.

57: and were I not salon coloring, I'd have tailbone pure white, from looks of my roots, & my mum's & grannys hair. Thank you Soo much for this thread:I really needed to see it. I compliment long white/gray/silver hair all the time:thinking I am sure they hear the negatives. Positive feedback helps a lot w/hair,at least I think. A couple times I got to a good 4 inchs of white roots, was just thinking how pretty, what a neat texture the virgin hair was;and i'd get negative comments. And i'd head in for another dakish blonde w/streaks dye job. I'm always thinking,to let myhair go natural white, with long hair down;would it look crazy? Lol:as if I don't allready! I soo admire the women w/long white hair, when I do escort duty w/my mum to her doctors offices. I am steady "hair perving"(love that term!) The whole time. Maybe someday I'll make the resolution & just do it!

All of the gray/white long hairs I complimented? Were Positively thrilled with the compliment. Compliments received drop massively when you get over 50,as a woman. The perk being:rather than overwhelming attention, you really enjoy a compliment then. Even if when younger, compliments & attention un-nerved you. It Is a definite perk i",at 57,have found to getting older. So:Please don't hold back;compliment the beautiful natural long white hairs you see!! From every time I did? They were very touched, grateful, and Loved the compliment. Compliment on! :)

A lady with waist length white hair was my inspiration to grow long hair...I saw her at a Renaissance fair, so she was in costume, but I knew then that when I was that age, I'd have waist length pure white hair ^_^

I can't understand that either. There are only a few older women that keep their hair long.

My beard hair is almost completely white, puzzling people into thinking that I dye my goatee.
I have many grey hairs on my head, I never have thought of dye them. I wish they quickly turn into white hairs though, I dislike the grey and brown color hehe!

This is such a great thread!
I am 67 yrs. old with silver-white hair. I started growing out my hair 4+ yrs. ago I also quit dying it a lt. ash blonde. My DH did NOT like that I was growing out my hair long & quit coloring it. My DH said that my long hair made me look old, it wasn't even that long yet, only about should length. He likes the hair cut like Dorthy Hamel sort of the mullet look, I guess. Every once in a while he would mention that I should get it cut - he even said that he would cut it. The last time I told him that I was growing it down to my knees, haha. Even now He NEVER says that my hair looks pretty :( but at least he doesn't say anything about me getting it cut any more. I guess that he has given up on me cutting it now.
There has been a few people at church that have said that my hair looks really pretty & it makes me feel really good & that maybe I don't look as bad as he says I do. But when I get down I look in the mirror & think maybe I should cut it short & dye it like I used to maybe it does make me look old. But then I come on here & look at all the beautiful long white hair here & I feel better about growing it long and white hair is beautiful. Also cutting TBL hair short would be a crime!

Fairlight-- I just looked at your pics in your album. Your husband is crazy. :nono: Your hair looks very fairyish! It's so soft-looking that I think it could even make you look younger-- you know, like how little kids sometimes have very light-colored, soft hair? Maybe that's why I've always liked white hair. Hmmm. Anyway, I don't know what to say about your husband. :( It's too bad that he can't see how great your hair is.

Thank you Annibelle, You have made my day :)
I guess that my DH is of the old school of older ladies should cut their hair short & dye it. His mother is in her 80's and still has short dyed red hair. One time when we went to see my DH family his Dad said "you need to dye your hair" to me. His family really has tact, haha DH must have inherited it from his Dad.

When I was in Vegas a couple of years ago waiting to cash out my tickets, there was a couple in front of me in line. The lady part of the couple had beautiful, snow white hair just past her waist. I tapped her on the shoulder and told her that her hair was beautiful and that I hoped mine looked just like hers one day. She was just the sweetest lady and gave me a compliment right back. The best thing, though, was the huge grin on her husband's face. He was just as pleased at the compliment as she was, if not more so.

My mom is 73 - she has amazing salt-and-pepper hair that reaches the bottom of her buttocks. She usually wears two braids, but I just loaned her one of my Ketylos so she can learn buns!

My original inspiration for growing my hair long was a friend of my aunt's that has silver/white hair past her waist. I still think she has the most beautiful hair I've ever seen. I'm pretty much destined for snowy white hair, and I'm more than okay with that.

But when I get down I look in the mirror & think maybe I should cut it short & dye it like I used to maybe it does make me look old. But then I come on here & look at all the beautiful long white hair here & I feel better about growing it long and white hair is beautiful. Also cutting TBL hair short would be a crime!

That's such a shame that he doesn't like it, because it's GORGEOUS!! Your shine is amazing. <3

You ladies are giving me hope that my hair might be pretty when I go grey - I'm still mostly brown at the moment, but planning to let the colour go natural when I'm mostly grey.

My husband is great - he always says he likes my hair just the way it is - whatever it is like at that moment! It's a shame when OHs don't appreciate their lovelies the way they are - and realise how lucky they are!
