In "Sense and Sensibility" (1995) Emma Thompson's hairstyle mostly consists of a bun with a braid wrapped around it. I'm curious as to how this style can be acheived. Here is a screenshot (sorry that it's so big!).

It's all a question of sectioning..and having hair long enough.

For the bun, make a horizontal part from the top of your left ear
around your head to the top of your right ear.

Take all of the hair above the part, comb it out, detangle, then put in a ponytail. You can then do a simple cinnamon twist to create the bun.

Take the remaining hair and braid it loosely, then bring it up and around the bun, pinning as you go.

Or..you could just ponytail the hair and divide it horizontally. Take all the hair above the part and twist it and form it in a coiled bun around the ponytail holder.

Take the remaining hair, braid it loosely, and coil it around the bun already made. Pin with crimped hairpins as you go around the bun.

Didn't someone else ask about this updo recently?

I google image searched and never could find a pic of the back of her head, which makes it clear that it's a cameo bun! Thanks. :)

I looked at other images of her hair from the side and front (like this (http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Sense-and-Sensibility-jane-austen-715216_800_600.jpg)one), and it looks to me as though they might have sectioned her hair in 1-inch sections and loosely twisted them back into her bun to give her updo more volume from the front.
