Nahhh, i don't think so, it's too shaggy to be real

I googled it, yep hair extensions.

thought so... don't know why she would want to get extensions like that though?

To be noticed..but ye Gods! It made me cringe to see all the different lengths..even with extensions. Just think how glorious it would have looked if the hair had been in tip top condition with an even hemline..or even fairytail ends...but the style she had looks like it had been butchered in places.

Same here. I actually think she looks awesome... very likely it's only fake for the video, I should imagine? I love this song, whatever her reasons :)

Definitely extensions for the video... trying to convey a more bohemian vibe I think.

No, it's not real. I don't even have the sources for that answer, I just KNOW it can't be real. (Not saying that people can't have hair that long, her hair just never seemed really long and now it's THat long all of a sudden?) Think it's just a wig for the video :)

I can't imagine anyone with real hair that long wanting it to be tangled on bushes, trees, etc. My hair would be a matted mess after that, and it's not anywhere near that length! It looks kinda cool moving around, but I'm with spidermom--ack, the tangles!

If it was real, it would be so unusual that it would have been mentioned in every article every written about her, every news clip. There is not a chance that it is real, because we would have heard about it.

No it is definitely not real. There was a clip where she flipped her hair and you could definitely see what length was hers and that the rest came in on the bottom.

That absolutely is NOT all her real hair. All the lengths that are floor length are clearly extensions. You can see all those much shorter pieces which are blowing in the wind and when she head-bangs, and these much shorter lengths clearly show no connection to the much longer extension lengths. Her real hair is around BSL, which is exactly the same length she has it in all her other music videos.
And yes, she isn't here to decorate our world, but then again I would still like to give my opinion that the look in this video simply doesn't do anything for her. Those extensions are horrid looking if I may be honest, and they are clearly getting more and more tangled and knotted by the second as the wind machine keeping blowing in the video. Her hair simply looks unkempt, and yes while I understand that this was the actual point of this particular music video, it still is a bad look for her. I think she would have done much better to forget the extensions all together and just rocked it out with her real BSL hair, which is still quite long by mainstream standards anyway!

Just as I thought, this article confirms that those were indeed hair extensions. Here is the link:

I think her hair just looks very strange! The shaggy carpet effect is so unnatural and gives away that it most likely is NOT real. I would have preferred extensions that were more one-length. The waves would have probably disguised her BSL hair anyway.

And the entire time I'm cringing thinking about how much it would suck to have to detangle all that (were it her real hair, thankfully she only has to detangle BSL and up). But.... sympathetic OUCH! I wonder how many people now think long hair that length must be gross like that? She could have portrayed long hair better.

It's definitely not her real hair, but I thought it looked pretty cool in an unruly way. :)
I was also thinking about all of the tangles, though -- what with her walking through a forest, being in front of a fan, and tossing her head around. :scared:
Here's another article (http://www.fhm.com/girls/news/feist-has-incredibly-long-hair-also-sings-82801)that speculates that her hair must be extensions. It also has . . . interesting things to say about long hair.

It looks very much like hair extensions to me. Sheesh, she could have gotten better extensions that looked more natural at like thehairtrader.org or something at least.

Definitely extensions. I searched google, and there are no other pictures of her with hair like that except for that music video. Plus, they don't look very realistic to me.

I like the artist. I just don't think that she had anytime to get used to long long looooong hair. She moves around with it wrong... the body language is completely off for the hairstyle.
I moves like a wig. However, wigs are hella fun and a great way to go for a quick change!

the movements look like extensions to me.. also the thickness is too good to be true imo

Indeed, "birds would make nests in in and tiny voles would take up residence in knots caused by dampness and an insufficient washing routine" seems to contain some pent up anger towards long hair? Or maybe just ignorance.

Wow everyone here seems so harsh! Haha. I thought about bringing this video up earlier because I though the video was fun. Didn't think that it would make people seem so angry. As a fan of Feist and long hair, I knew right off the bat that that hair was all hers. And even for people who don't follow her, it obvious that that the hair is fake, or at least not all her own. You can tell be the way that the hair moves that the longer strands aren't even connected directly to her scalp, like the way that long seaweed leaves grow out of an much longer single stem. Think of a horse's tail.
She wasn't trying to make anyone believe that it was her own hair. I think it was more used to amplify the effects of the environment she's in. See how the wind just has its way with her hair? It helps us visualize how exposed and vulnerable she feels inside.
It's funny how some poeple are so focused on her hair when the the artist is only using the hair to symbolize something more profound. Hair isn't just about being pretty.

I'd say ignorance. "Look at it – it's too long to be practical. You'd trip over it. It'd take roughly forever to wash and condition."
Why would it take that long to condition? As my hair has been growing, I've not noticed much extra time spend putting conditioner through the length. Yes, I use more, but it probably takes less than a minute longer than it did at chin length.. And I only wash my scalp.
People always seem to think long hair takes ages to maintain and I'm not sure why - I spent just as much time of my short hair, straightening it, using wax to style it etc.
If people are aiming for practical, probably best to just shave it all off :p
seaj - I don't think people are particularly angry about it?

I just meant that they sounded harsh, criticizing her hair, and the fact that they are extensions. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that everyone is so focused on the hair since this is a forum about growing long hair. I just feel like they aren’t looking at the bigger picture and are taking the hairstyle out of context. This video isn’t about selling hair extensions or even about long hair at all. The hair isn’t even there to enhance her appearance.
Anyways, I’m glad Feist is back.

Quite an eye-opener, that website. I can't believe girls put pics in their singles section, given the tone of the rest of the site. Anyway, I digress...as the article also says 'crazy woodlands lady' - I agree that that seems to be the look she's going for in the video.

I agree that hair isn't just for being pretty. It looks to me like she's trying to give the impression that she has grown like a tree in the forest- prolific, untrimmed, and wild. It's not supposed to look polished and fabulous.
I don't think it says anything about long hair in general, just the mood about herself she was trying to show her audience. If people infer from this that long hair is unkempt and dirty and has twigs in it then those people were stupid to begin with.

UGH That website really cheeses me off. As if women only exist to make men lust after them, and anything they do that is "unsexy" is therefore game for ridicule.:mad::mad::mad::mad: It wouldn't bother me so much if the attitude wasn't so widespread but it is, to the point that a lot of women take it to heart (which leads to a lot of flat ironing and hair dying and etc. all in the name of having "confidence" and "feeling good about oneself").
Ahem, just a personal opinion. :o

Ack! I didn't poke around the rest of the website (I found it through an image search of Feist with her extensions), so I didn't realize until you mentioned it what kind of website it was!
