I am wanting to curl my hair for a couple styles i want to try. Of course i would like to use oin curls or sponge rollers overnight but im guessing that won't be the most comfortable sleep!! Another goal here is to try to keep it in for more than ten minutes but am leery of products (the styles will be secured so that will help). Im hoping to hear methods that have worked, as well as those that haven't!!http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb328/lmarie29/th_208958cc.jpg (http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb328/lmarie29/?action=view&current=208958cc.jpg). (Still sad i cant figire out how to get my new photobucket album to LHC album...sigh)

I search YouTube tutorials for new ideas. This is my current favorite method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFrQSM7L7MU

Sponge rollers don't bother me much. I roll them all the way to the scalp on the top and then only roll the bottom sections to my chin so they don't get in the way of my head. You can also wear a fully-rolled sock bun to bed, but I have a hard time getting the ends wrapped right. You have to experiment to find out what works for your hair and sleep comfort and produces the type of curls you want.

Hey! I am addicted to pin curls, since I figured out how to do them right I can't stand to not do them. I do sleep in them and it's not uncomfortable at all. My hair is almost BSL.

Before starting I brush a little coconut and castor oil mix into the bottom of my hair with a boar bristle brush, distributing it fully. I find it easiest to do 3 coils - one above each ear, and one big one on the back of my head.

I form the coil over a plastic spray bottle (the one I spray the hair with rose water to make it damp), then pull the coil gently off the bottle taking care to keep it together. Sometimes I have to carefully wind the coil up a little more to be closer to my scalp. Press the coil flat against your head and secure it with 3+ bobby pins as needed.

I sleep on a silk pillowcase and I've only once had one of the pin curls come loose overnight.

They really make my hair look so polished for days. When I first take the pin curls out, the pieces by my scalp sometimes look a little bent, but the weight of my hair smooths them down in a couple hours, and the ends of my hair curl so nicely I don't need to style again until I take my next shower, which might be a week.

I rejuvinate the curls a couple times a day by finger coiling them. If I want to put my hair out of my face, I make sure to curl in into a cinnabon and keep everything smooth, so when I take it out it basically looks the same. If the curl in the bangs falls flat I just spritz it a little and make a fancy curl and pin it up with a flower barette and it looks like a fancy victory curl, until I take it down and it's corkscrewed again.

I know this is Beyonce being all fancy and famous, but my hair literally looks exactly like this (except it only falls to APL when curled) for days if I follow my wash with 1. oil 2. dampen 3. pin curl 4. sleep on silk:

I love no heat curl using only a soft thick headband.

I don't use heatless curling methods quite enough to recommend a good one. But when I do braid waves, I like to spray on some diluted aloe gel prior braiding:

Aloe gel: 1 part
Water: 5-6 parts
Conditioner*: 1/2 part
*The conditioner is optional. I like to add it because it makes my hair feel softer, but it's not like it'll make the hair crunchy without.

My hair can't hold braid waves to save itself, but with the spray gel, my waves last at least half a day.

Yes. I just parted my hair in two sections, braided each section half way down, then banded with a hair friendly elastic.

Then I separated each tassle into 5 sections, moistened each strand a little, then rolled it up in a medium sized sponge curler and left it in overnight.

The results were nice and lasted about 2 days.

I used to make a ponytail on top of my head (hair-tie couldn't be tight or would form a ridge), then roll the ends on sponge curlers. It was pretty comfortable for sleeping.

My curls fall out too fast to bother these days.
