So it was 3AM and I couldn't sleep. I figured well, I might as well use this time constructively and practice my Fishtail Braid! :cheese:

I dug out one of my old mannequins and practiced the braid on her hair. I'm still not happy with how I do a Fishtail Braid on myself, it just doesn't come out as neat and even as I want it to be. I can however perfect it on someone else's head. Enjoy the pics everyone.

Wow that looks so good :) I can't wait til my hair is a bit longer so I can do one! I would be able to now.. but it wouldn't be very long and a little hard because of my layers.

Lovely fishtail braid! You sure have a talent for braiding. I really like how you extended the fishtail to look like a french braid or I guess like a "french fishtail?" Do you have any pointers in achieving this neat look? I'd like to try this on my sister's hair. Thanks for sharing.

That freaked me out! I didn't realize it was a mannequin head and thought it was someone else you were practicing on, and suddenly you were holding a bodyless head!

Have you tried to pony your hair and bring it over your shoulder to practice the braid on yourself? This really helps me when I'm learning new braids. I think if you can do it this well on others it won't take too much more practice to perfect it on your own head. :)

I actually tried doing this just this morning. My sections came out a bit uneven, but overall I did manage to make a half-way decent Fishtail. The base of course didn't look as wide and pretty as it would if I didn't ponytail it down with an elastic, but other than that it was okay looking. I'll keep practicing it more and more though!
