I'm sorry if this thread already exists, but I'm seeing cheese everywhere in polls and stuff and I'm assuming that cheese is good for your hair, but what exactly are the benefits of it? And what other foods should I indulge in in an obsessive manner to help my hair?

hahaha its an LHC thing :)) especially when fights occur we offer cheese to get people to calm down ... Avocado is very good, almonds, yoghurt, and probably a whole lot more.. just eat protein and eat healthy :))

It's a joke. Seriously.

Haha! :D

I wish :cheese: were especially good for your hair, but I think that's it's probably just as good as any source of protein. :)

There's a thread which explains it around here somewhere, but the gist of the matter is that the cheese thing got started many moons ago when there was a heated argument on the site; people said some hurtful things to one another and feathers got ruffled. Then someone suggested that everyone calm down and make up by eating some cheese. Because everyone loves cheese! And then everyone was happy again. :)

So it's basically evolved into a traditional poll option and, if you offer people :cheese: on a thread, it's a way of saying "let's all calm down and be friends." :)

Despite studying dairy science in college and working on a jersey cow farm where all the milk goes to cheese, I don't like cheese. Most cheese anyway. But I do love cows. And milk and ice cream and yogurt and BUTTER.

But I strongly support a love of cheese in everyone else. I wish I liked it. I keep trying to.

Yay! I'm glad I know more about the cheese now! :D I have to say, I"m picky about my cheese, but the few kinds I do like I eat like they are going out of style! Mmmmmm cheese! I'll add it to my list of peace offerings.

Oddly enough, when my fiance had me close my eyes while he got out my "present", and I asked if I could guess what it was, my last of three guesses was cheese (yes, my FH sometimes buys me my favorite cheese as an I love you gift), and he said better than cheese, and I was like "What's better than cheese?!" Well, turns out, my engagement ring. ;)

That's so cute, PixxieStix! :crush:

There are few things in my mind that rank above cheese, but engagement rings are one of them. ;)

New here, but I've always always thought cheese could solve everything.

Well. Cheese, Pickles, and icecream.

This is funny :D

I'm so glad cheese is not good for the hair - I hate cheese (will you throw me out of LHC now?) I remember thinking "What? Cheese? Why cheese? Cheese is awful!" until I realized that everybody else here loves cheese

I vote for changing it to cookies! Or better: Chocolate! Chocolate chip cookies maybe?

Entry from my blog for just such an occasion.

Gather round my dears and I will tell you The Legend of the Cheese. A long, long, long time ago in a land called The Long Hair Community there was some grouchiness and some snarkiness and some general belly aching going on. It was a sad, sad day. Long hairs were getting very heated and hurting each other's feelings something terrible.

It was such a shame, just a crying shame to see those who cared about each other feeling anger in their hearts toward others in our lovely community.

Fortunately, a champion arose. Her name was KarenMarie, an expert wielder of the great cheese who was both brave and wise. She realized, what we should have known all along, that there was nothing so bad in our community that couldn't be fixed by a lovely piece of cheese. Who doesn't love cheese after all? She started offering cheese to people and, as if by magic, the fussing and the fighting went away.

The LHC was awed by the power of the cheese. It could hardly be believed that this wonderful (and tasty) substance could bring about peace and heal the occasional misunderstandings that come when such large groups of long hairs get together.

Cheese stands as a reminder to our community that no discussion (no matter how crazy) is worth hurting our friends and fellow adventurers on this very long quest toward long hair.

And those that remember that momenteous day in LHC history have told the tales to the next generation, as I am telling the tale to you. Go out!!! I beseech you! Wield the cheese with love, sowing peace and harmony wherever you go. All of you, who are hearing this story, are now part of the legend. Carry it out the sacred responsibility as you see fit, spreading cheese wherever you see the seeds of discontent.

Long live the cheese!!!!

(Basic cheese info from memory and supported by this archived thread lol. I am in storyteller mode tonight, you will have to forgive me.)

I worked out that it was an LHC joke just after I joined.

One of my gifts for Christmas was a speciality spicy cheese that came in it's own gift box.

I've been wondering about this ever since I signed up and one of the options for gender was "cheese". And then I kept seeing cheese in polls and other places (signatures and such), and I'm like, what's up with the cheese?? So glad to be enlightened now :-). On another forum I frequent, it's popular to include "space aliens" as an option in polls, and I have no idea why! Especially since the poll-initiators often express their frustration when too many people select that option!
