Currently, I am looking for some unique hairstyles that could be paired with some hair accessories that my awesome designer friend made. (Message me if you want to purchase or view more stuff of her's.)

She designed a handful of Butterfly Hair Combs and Headbands. I would love you forever if you posted a picture of a unique hairstyle that you think would pair well with a certain piece. I know nothing about wearing hair combs properly. Maybe a wild, curly updo? I did try the headband with long hair and large curls, but I don't think it looked quite right. Maybe it was just the "me" part of the picture that bothered me haha.

I love the butterflies! I'm not sure about styles, other than loose, maybe curled or braid waves.

WOw! That flower headband is gorgeous!

All of the pieces are pretty intense and height adjustable for photoshoots. I had this odd idea in my mind of gravity defying hair to match the idea of butterflies. I do like braid waves!

That is exactly what I thought when I saw them, big wild hair! The best way to do that would probably be a whole heap of small curlers. If you're not opposed to heat styling, a small barrel curling iron would achieve a nice effect, too. Just curl all the hair and fluff with your fingers or a wide tooth comb.
HTH :)

(Oh dear. I think I just found my ideal hair accessory designer. My pocketbook is in TROUBLE.)

My vote is with the others. Fairy hair. Nothing that has straight or tamed lines is going to work.

Since you have 1c/2a hair, could you let your hair dry a little piecy with curl, and then flip your head over and run your fingers along your scalp for volume? Instant lift + curls. Then maybe two temple braids right under the headpiece for whimsy.

I think it might be really cool to put a headband on, and then do a french fishtail braid around it on both sides, with the top of the headband uncovered.

Maybe messy pincurls? I think that would look adorable. :)

Definitely something wavy or curly with lots of volume.

I LOVE those pieces though. I would totally use them for a photoshoot. I actually want to do a fairy photoshoot in the spring and those would be so perfect!

For the first and second one, I'm thinking smaller piled braids in front of the piece that create a headband effect and very curly hair on the sides and back to match the volume of the piece. :)

I totally agree about the gravity defying hair, but not as an updo; piggy suggests procuring some high-powered fans for a windblown effect! (^(oo)^)

For the combs, you might also try well-defined spiral curls:

Alternatively, take the opposite approach with a sleek chignon, to keep all the focus on the featured piece:

It keeps redirecting me to a different site!

I forgot to mention that I won't be the model, I am the photographer. :D I will be picking models based off of their hair type and length once I decide on some pretties!

And thank you so much to everyone else, writing all of the suggestions in my little notebook.

Curls do seem to suit those pieces, but I think we keep thinking that because that's what we usually see paired together: big hair with big hair accessories. Someone (piggy I think?) suggested a sleek chignon, and that would be different AND highlight the fanciness of the hair pieces.

Show us pics when you have them please :D

That is a definite, Lapin!

My current hair stylist is going through a tough pregnancy right now (she's due in December), so I'll be trying to find that rare model with hair know how. It's funny that I hadn't considered a sleek chignon.

Should I experiment with the hair comb placement? Or should the comb always be above the chignon?

I think that defined spirals are too tame for these pieces, and that if you want curls you should definitely go all the way which huge, voluminous hair. On the other side, if you want sleek, a chignon would definitely do the trick.

I was actually thinking a Gibson Tuck would look nice with the combs...it would almost look like the butterflies were flying out of the center of the tuck.

I am in LOVE with these two:

And the Gibson Tuck would be really beautiful too, is it complicated?

Oh no, a Gibson Tuck is about as simple as updos come! Make a ponytail a little bit loose, divide the hair above the ponytail (but do NOT go all the way through to the bottom - this forms a pouch), and tuck the 'tail into the pouch you just formed. Then you put a clip, barrette, or comb right on top to hold the pouch closed. Easy as can be.

Look in my photo album, the headband looks like the one I made for a faerie festival. Actually here's the pic (LINKY (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=2230&pictureid=71268))...

I just wore my hair down, and then the next time I wore it, I had micro braids throughout

I bet I could do that!

I like to wear flowers around my head kind of like that headband, while wearing heidi braids.

since they are butterflies, consider doing hairstyles that look like flowers. Roses could be rosettes of pin curls, pinned braid for lily, pulled through ponytails for azalea etc.

I think a braided bun or a classic chignon style would look very pretty with the more demure butterfly clips tucked in them. The pink & purple ones, the last two pictures.
