Simply put the bee-butt bun is really just the terminology used to describe bunning your hair and each time you coil it around you coil it under the previous loop instead of around it like the cinnabun. That way the bun sticks out from your head a little more the more coils it has. It somewhat resembles a bee butt in terms of the coils looking like a more single colored version of the yellow and white stripes.

Gosh, I've got the same problem. The only time I manage to do cinnabuns is when my hair is freshly washed.
