Im sure they are million of posts about updos but I need help! I would like some ideas on updos I can do for school if possible not using hair sticks or combs. I would like something that leaves some hair on the sides of my face because I dont like my face without something like ''protecting'' me. I hope Im not asking for too much!
Thank you :D

Sounds like an "elvish" hair style to me :) I'm sorry, I only do messy buns... I guess you could do a messy bun and leave some of it down on the sides... I've done that...

At your length braids are a good way to go also sock buns, peacock twists and French twists. Braids are fun here is a good resource to learn cool braiding styles: Braiding Instructions (http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/Braiding_Tips.htm). Sock buns have two different ways that can be done: Sock bun 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkvfm2Iuqio) and Sock bun2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20jrHP75sdk). Peacock twist can be done with hair pins but here is a tutorial with hair sticks for general tips (just replace the hair sticks with hair pins, that what I do): Peacock twist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boGblrUa_O8). And a French twist tutorial (the instructions start at 2:55): French twist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnNwYGgoywA).

Hope that helps. :D

The normal braid is called the english braid.

Other flavors of braid:
-dutch braid (3 stranded like the english braid, but it goes right under, left under rather than right over, left over)
-french braid
-rope braid
-fishtail/herringbone braid

Um...I know that there are other kinds of braids, but I personally don't do them except for hawser and cable braids, which I think you'd have to have more length for.

Here is a link to a video tutorial on the lace braid around your head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPHEzUr5bWQ

You could modify this by lacing along each side of your head, then joining each side at the back of your head with a Flexi 8.

I used to do a mess braid leaving some hairs out and I'd curl my hair with my sponge rollers. Try twin braids up them up criss cross them and have ringlets handing down my face. Like others said a messy bun. I'm into being different so I did twin braid pig tails have a few stray hairs hang down.
