O.K. when I first joined LHC my ultimate dream was to have a B-I-G bun that looked like it was eating the back of my head :D and today I got me a huge (for me anyway!) bun! O.K. I needed props in this case a rolled up tights leg (panty hose is that what you call them in the U.S.A?) which i cut off the foot part and at the crutch (or is that crotch??? im loosing it!) and rolled it so it looked like a doughnut! I used the method where you roll your hair around the doughnut thingy!

I got so many comments and even a whistle off a window cleaner *go figure* hee hee!!! and it stayed in all day!

Rini - you could do a sock bun and get a huge bun. It would look great! I don't do the 'roll you hair up with the sock'. Can't get that one to work. I just have my hair in a pony and pull pony through donut hole and spread hair around sock then put a hair band or srunchie over the spread hair on sock and wrap ends that are left out around the bun and use little mini claw clips to keep ends in place.

Nooooooooo! My attempt failed terribly. How did you make such a massive bun, OP??! I used 2 full tight legs, cut off at the crotch and the feet, put them together thinking this would make some sort of superbun.. but it didn't really look that big, definitely not as big as the ones on here!

oh my such pretty buns, id love to point this thread out to those who say longhair is boring PPPPPPsssssstttt!
LocustSpawning- I just cut a pair of tights top of leg and the foot off and then rolled it so it makes a ring. Then make a pony with your hands, no elastic, feed the very ends around the ring, and then gently roll the ring, your hair will roll with it. Don't worry at this stage about all your hair covering it, just roll!

Once you have rolled all your hair, gently move your hair around the ring until its all covered and then using the wide grips not bobby pins the wide pins and twist gently some of the hair at the base of the ring and sec-cure the hair down and thats it really! done on damp hair overnight gives amazing curls too!

As for the size the bun turns out depends on your length and thickness too, im nearly hip length and quite thick hair, but your hair looks thick so you should be able to get a pretty fat bun!

It's cocobolo rosewood. The flash does make it look lighter than it is, though. PM me if you'd like to see a photo of it in natural light. :)

I have made some cool buns...but I can't figure out how to get my hair to cover the WHOLE doughnut! Then I get frustrated and give up. Whenever i use a pin to move the hair around, it pulls it and it looks strange.

Any ideas?
