All this year I've been frustrated by my slow growth rate, and what with my still-thin ends (which I'm waiting until January to start microtrimming) I haven't really felt as though there's been much of a gain in length at all.

But last night I chanced to put my hair up in a Kimi bun with the same hair fork that I'd used to take a picture back in March, and... well, see for yourselves. The first pic was taken in mid-March, the second is the current one. Apparently, whatever progress I have or haven't been seeing at the ends, the thickness has been travelling down the length enough to make a visible difference in bun size! :D

It's getting bigger! :D

Jojo, here's Kimi's vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCMjXPpyw54) for how to do her bun. :)

Thank you, it seems just like a nautilus you just put the fork in a different place.

Hi Theobroma,

Well, it appears I can't see the pictures, but, reading the comments, it must be great! Have you done something special to encourage growth?

bunzfan, it is pretty much a Nautilus, but twisted so that the root ends up at the top rather than the bottom. I find it's an incredibly stable 'do and will allow me to use forks that would otherwise be too heavy to sit well in my hair.

bouclée, I'm afraid that you need to have 25 posts to be able to see album pictures. Sorry! And as for encouraging growth, it's more what I haven't been doing, I think! No SL(e)S, no (or hardly any) artificial heat, and no wearing it down. It's working; I haven't trimmed (except for very minor dustings) in almost two years and my ends are in great shape.

Great progress, Theobroma! :flower:

I just love it how much more substantial buns look when they get fatter, and it's definitely a great indication of a change in thickness! :D

islandboo, Yozhik, thank you! I must say I'm really chuffed to see the difference! :)
