View Full Version : What colour is my friend Jennies hair?

October 24th, 2011, 10:24 AM
Jennie and I started talking the other day about her hair colour, she have had it called to a variety of colours, light brown, dark blonde, honey blonde and been told both that her hair is to light/darkt to be blonde/brown.

So I thought maybe LHC could help us come up with a good answer, when people asks och says what her haircolour is.

Here is some pics of her amazing hair:

I just love her hair!
She is my best hairbuddy in the world. :cheese:

October 24th, 2011, 10:29 AM
Her hair looks very much like my DH's, so I would call it light brown.

October 24th, 2011, 10:30 AM
light strawberry blond, else dark blond, i wouldnt call this a light brown..

October 24th, 2011, 10:32 AM
Probably could call it different shades, but it is so beautiful!

October 24th, 2011, 10:35 AM
I'd say she definitely falls into the "blonette" category. Very beautiful hair!

October 24th, 2011, 10:35 AM
I'd say light brown as well. I love her hair though. It is beautiful.

October 24th, 2011, 10:41 AM
I'd call it dirty blonde! She has beautiful hair.

October 24th, 2011, 10:46 AM
I'd call it blond. If it seems too dark for that, go with 'tawny'.

It is always a pleasure to see these unforgettable puctures again! It looks like her roots are light brown, but her hair lightens naturally to dark blonde, becoming more golden in the length as it lightens. It is beautiful, and a perfect illustration of why a bit of sun lightening can be a good thing!

October 24th, 2011, 11:04 AM
I'd call this a strawberry / medium blonde. No way is this anywhere near brown!

October 24th, 2011, 11:12 AM
I'd say definitely in the "blonette" category! :) See http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=80416
Lovely hair, and a lovely medieval dress!

I'd call it dirty blonde! She has beautiful hair.
How I wish people wouldn't use such terms as "dirty" for any hair colour (once again)... :( And like it was a descriptive term, even though it isn't. (And to use words "dirty" and "beautiful" to describe the same hair seems an oxymoron to me...)

October 24th, 2011, 11:24 AM
Very much blonde, no where near brown!

October 24th, 2011, 11:28 AM
I'm no expert but I consider it to be a shade of blonde, i wouldn't view it as a brown as it's so golden in some of the photo's. She has gorgeous hair.

October 24th, 2011, 11:31 AM
The first picture it could almost be a light brown, the rest look pretty clearly blonde on my monitor. Beautiful, whatever it is.

October 24th, 2011, 11:47 AM
I'd call it dark blond. It is exactly like my sister's hair colour (she has WL hair). :p Your friend's hair is gorgeous! :D

Please be aware that different monitors show color differently. On my monitor, she seems to have rather blonde hair, nothing hinting of light brown although in time it may turn to that color, as it did for me. Mine also possesses a fair amount of kind of reddish hints.

I also say blonette.. which doesn't exactly answer your question because it means hair color that is between blonde and brown. It does appear to me to be on the blonder side of blonette, but I can see how in certain light it would look light brown.

October 24th, 2011, 11:59 AM
I'd say dark blonde.. her hair's beautiful! is she a member here?

October 24th, 2011, 12:17 PM
I would definitely say dark blonde. Her hair is so beautiful! :)

October 24th, 2011, 12:19 PM
would not know what color to name it, but she has a gorgeous head of hair!

October 24th, 2011, 12:28 PM
I'd call it a Gorgeous Colour :)

October 24th, 2011, 01:17 PM
I would put it in the blond category. Very pretty!

October 24th, 2011, 01:34 PM
Your friends hair is Honey Blond.

This shade of blonde can be confused with light brown. Hope this helps:)

October 24th, 2011, 01:59 PM
NOT brown. Medium/golden blonde, like my own. But its really a lot of shades and thats what makes it so beautiful :p

October 24th, 2011, 02:04 PM
I'd say she's a honey/golden blonde. I love the color as well!

October 24th, 2011, 02:09 PM
Same as my natural colour, dark blonde with red hints!

October 24th, 2011, 02:10 PM
I would say she has blond hair, not light brown at all for me;). Beautiful hair anyway:).

October 24th, 2011, 02:17 PM
Her hair is gold.

October 24th, 2011, 02:21 PM
I would call this a golden dark blonde. Btw, let your friend know I think her hair is STUNNING! Looks so healthy from root to tip!

October 24th, 2011, 03:13 PM
I'd call it a beautiful honey blonde. :)

October 24th, 2011, 03:31 PM
Definitely blonde. I think lots of people are actually blondes who consider themselves brunettes. There are soooo many shades and degrees of brown but it seems that people think to be blonde means you have to be platinum!

Gorgeous hair by the way! :)

October 24th, 2011, 03:33 PM
Spun gold. :) Honey blonde. It's too light to be brown, I think.

Lucky her - what a gorgeous shade!

ETA: The medieval outfits take what is already lovely hair and frame it fantastically.

October 24th, 2011, 04:25 PM
Holy Hannah, she's got awesome hair! I'd also go with blonette/dark blonde.

October 24th, 2011, 04:28 PM
A darker shade of golden blonde.

But as with most hair colours it seems to vary a bit depending on the light.

October 24th, 2011, 04:39 PM
I'd say that her hair is a mid-dark honey blonde color. :)

October 24th, 2011, 04:42 PM
Hmmm, I'd go for medium/dark honey blonde, maybe even strawberry blonde. Lovely!

October 24th, 2011, 04:45 PM
A dark blonde with a hint of red. Tawny is the best overall term. Lovely photos.

October 24th, 2011, 04:45 PM
Medium blond. Not dark enough to be light brown/dark blond, not light enough to be light blond.

October 24th, 2011, 04:55 PM

According to this she seems to be a level 7 medium golden blonde. I don't see any pictures which could be thought of as brown, but I'm sure it changes according to the light.

October 24th, 2011, 08:27 PM
I'd say honey blonde. I don't think it's warm enough to be considered strawberry blonde. My brother has strawberry blonde hair, and it's a much warmer color then your friend has. :flower:

October 24th, 2011, 08:31 PM
Somewhere in the blond spectrum for sure. If I was her I would say I had blond hair, nothing more nothing less :)

October 24th, 2011, 08:38 PM
I would call her blonette... If people ask her what color her hair is, she should simply tell them it is the color they see. Beautiful hair :)

October 24th, 2011, 08:45 PM
Don't know - but that pic of her sitting in front of the waterfall is gorgeous!

October 24th, 2011, 09:23 PM
I'm surprised that anyone would call her hair brown! To me it looks blonde. Blonde, blonde, blonde!

(But maybe having almost-black brown hair on my own head skews my perception of what is "brown.") :)

October 24th, 2011, 09:25 PM
I'd say dark golden blonde.

October 24th, 2011, 09:33 PM
In a couple of the pictures it looks like up by her roots are a light brown and the rest is all blonde (probably lightened by the sun.) Whatever color it is it's gorgeous. :)

October 24th, 2011, 09:57 PM
It is like my boyfriend's hair, except his is ashy, not golden like that. His is light brown... So either light brown or dark blonde. Very pretty!

October 24th, 2011, 11:28 PM
I think it is a very golden dark blonde. Simply gorgeous! I'm not seeing the brown.

October 25th, 2011, 01:26 PM
I'd say honey blonde. I don't think it's warm enough to be considered strawberry blonde. My brother has strawberry blonde hair, and it's a much warmer color then your friend has. :flower:

I agree :) She's dark honey blonde.

She's not strawberry blonde.... I consider strawberry blonde to have a lot more red/copper in it.

October 25th, 2011, 01:31 PM
Dark golden blonde. No way that is brown!

October 25th, 2011, 02:34 PM
How I wish people wouldn't use such terms as "dirty" for any hair colour (once again)... :( And like it was a descriptive term, even though it isn't. (And to use words "dirty" and "beautiful" to describe the same hair seems an oxymoron to me...)

I would actually use the words "dirty blonde" to describe my own hair colour. I don't find the term to be intentionally derogatory or associated with dirtiness. It's a term I, and quite a few other people, use to describe a darker blonde shade. I don't make any correlation with this term and the degree of beauty of the hair.

October 25th, 2011, 02:34 PM
Same as mine.

Dark golden blonde. Definitely not brown. 'Honey' would be an acceptable term, but I hardly think it's terribly specific since honey comes in all sorts of shades.

October 25th, 2011, 02:41 PM
I'd say medium blonde.

October 25th, 2011, 02:48 PM
Gorgeous hair!

Honey Blonde (first thing that came to mind).

Curly Hermione
October 25th, 2011, 03:08 PM
Woah. Awesome hair!!! I'd say tawny/blondette/golden.

October 25th, 2011, 03:37 PM
WOW! :thudpile:
She has such beautiful hair, she looks like she is out of a fairy tale!
Looks like Honey blonde to me.

October 25th, 2011, 04:46 PM
Not brown at all. :) She has gold tones, so I say blonde.

October 25th, 2011, 04:49 PM
I'm calling that gorgeous, gorgeous hair a dark golden blond. She is so lucky to have hair like that! That is how I want my hair to look someday!

October 31st, 2011, 03:44 PM
I'm Jennie, thanks to my good friend Maya, I'm member now! :D
It took her a month of constant questions of why don't you join LHC? for me to give in.

So thank you all for you input, I personally have to say that I too think my hair belongs among the blondes.

October 31st, 2011, 04:25 PM
I'd say a honey blonde, or strawberry blonde.

October 31st, 2011, 05:08 PM

October 31st, 2011, 05:37 PM
Thank you, I've found my way to the blonette thread. :)

Dark honey blonde, and lovely!

This. Her hair is exactly the color of the bottle of honey I have sitting on my desk. Very pretty!

October 31st, 2011, 09:45 PM
I'd call it honey blond or dark blond
