So I came up with this today and had to try it out. I'm not sure how to finish the up-do without hiding the cool part. Any suggestions

What about wrapping them into a bun below the cross. It's the only thing I can think of. It looks great!:)

Maybe do a looped braid thing at the end and put a sparkly hairclip in it?

I think I'd try rope braiding the two pieces and leaving that hanging. If you're looking to protect the ends they I'd along with what invisiblebabe suggested. :)
BTW, that looks really good. :)

It looks lovely. As far as finishing goes, perhaps you could take one braid and bring it up and around the right hand side, pinning as you go, and repeat with the other braid on the other side.

Oh yeah! I like Madora's suggestion. That will look really, really cool.
Very pretty. I'm impressed! I love your hair color too.

Oh I think I may do that. If I can get it to stay.

Thank you. Iam learning to love it as well. I spent 23 years hating it and wanting a "normal" color but now I'm digging the uniqueness.

It was way easier than it looks. I parted it in half, then parted from the left side of my hairline to the right side in the back and section off the other sides (right front and left back). Then I dutch braided the left front to the middle where I ran out of hair, braided a few turns and then started picking up hair from the right bottom. Then braided all the way down. I did the same thing on the other side (right front to left back) but before picking up hair in the back I passed it through the open spot. I had to have my mom help with that part just reseparating my three braid sections. Final step, pinning all loose and funky sections. I was actually amazed it turned out.

That's beautiful! I'm bookmarking this so that whenever my hair finally gets to about BSL and I get that idiotic urge to go and cut it all off again (inevitably happens around that stage) I can remind myself why I really don't want to do that!

I put them up in Heidi braids. It is super cute. And very comfortable

If you wanted to leave the length down, I would love to see it with a big herringbone braid started under the "x". It is very pretty. :D

Nice job. I've tried this a few times and have never taken a picture of the awful results.

I may try it with the herringbone braid one day, but after Sunday ( I did "french braided" herringbone braids) it will be a while before I try it agian. My arms get so tired.
I desperatly wanted to just leave the length down. Sadly, I made a decission to wear my hair up until I get married. I have no idea when this might happen but gee wiz it needs to get here soon. Although, imagine that look when he first sees my hair down..... It keeps me going.
