New hair growth or breakage?

I have no idea what is going on. I noticed just about an inch or so beyond my hairline at the front I have what looks like half an inch of hair sticking up. I'm not not sure if it's breakage or new growth. It's actually right where I part my hair. I have started using DE and other vitamins on a regular basis so it might be new hair growth kind of like when you get baby hairs at the hairline. But is it possible to have that much breakage in that area?

You have to look at the ends of the hair to be able to tell the difference. Virgin hairs or hairs that have been trimmed have a much different look than those from breakage.

Are the ends blunt or tapered? Tapered means new growth.
