Hello everyone! I'm new to the community. I got my hair cut back in June.

It was pretty long..maybe past APL..and i felt like it wasn't growing much. I straightened it practically everyday. I have wurly hair if I don't. well i was told that my hair was pretty crap (in a nice, helpful way). I went for a "trim" and ended with up-to-my shoulders hair..I was upset and didn't realize what i had lost.

this is the link for June:

and now fast-forward to October:

I've had two trims..I don't know if my hair is growing fast..but i can't stop thinking about my hair..and i'd like to know what you guys mean by "putting it up"..that way I can stop thinking about it..do loose buns count? do i take it down every night when i sleep?

my goal is APL, then BSL..that's about it..sorry for the long blurb..

Putting it up means bunning your hair rather than leaving your hair loose. You may hear them referred to as updoes also

Buns, braids (although some people consider them not quite "up," and be careful with how you bind off the ends), braided buns, peacock and french twists...they're all updos.

Look through the updo articles section on this website, or just search on youtube if you're a more audio-visual learner. :)

I hope that helps!

We think wurly hair is beautiful around here. Straightening can definitely cause it to break off as fast as it grows, so you can't get anywhere.

these all help! I just wonder if the "loose" bun is adequate because i think that's what works best..maybe i'll try the peacock..i have a clip. thanks you guys :)

thank you spidermom! i can't wait for longer waves! i think what i meant is the straightening turned my hair to crap. not my hair was crap from wurly. thanks for everyone's help :)
