Last night, I finally got my first set of successful bun waves. I figured out the two things that were making them not work for my hair.

http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h404/ttverdy/bunwaves.jpg

1. I need to do the bun on dry or nearly dry hair, because my hair holds a curl almost too well, and damp hair makes weird looking curls.
2. I need to use a hairstick to secure it, not elastics, so that there aren't weird lines from rubber bands.
3. I need to wear a silk scarf tied around my head to combat the frizzies and help straighten my wurlies.

I'm so happy! :)

So pretty! I like to tie my bun with an old stretched-out scrunchie...no marks!

Looking good!! :D I will try this (I would always get weird bunwaves too if I put the bun in dripping wet hair), as your hairtype seems kinda similar to mine :)

Looks very nice. I used to get good bun waves, not working for me lately though. I think I'm putting it up too wet. I'll have to check that. :)

Yay! They look gorgeous, exactly the kind that's fun to flip your head from side to side a bit and feel all sexah!

Yay, how pretty!!! I wish my bun waves came out that awesome, but my hair is too wavy! Congratulations though, it looks beautiful! :flower:

Very pretty! I like how they turned out. :)

I'm going to try this again soon - haven't tried it for a couple of months. Thanks for reminding me of how pretty they look.

Just a cinnabun, low on my nape. I straightened out my wurls before bunning it by brushing while it dried.

Very pretty! You might like a high cinnabun even better...the waves will start closer to your scalp and the wavelengths will overlap (which I think makes it look more like natural waves and less like braid waves)
