I think this person first grew it that long and then did this. I hope she's happy with it, takes a long time to grow that back to kneelenght.
Maybe this picture was a joke, maybe she was shaving it off and thought to take a picture like this midway. Still what a shame.

Whatever the case may be, who could ever do that to that gorgeous hair?

I think it's actually a picture from a f*tish site. I know it's not on there now, but there is a f*tish all about cutting and even buzzing off long hair.

Well, I hope she's happy with what was done to her hair! It's pretty egregious..but then, it's her hair. What a pity to ruin what looks like a beautiful, long mane!

Not sure if it's from a f*t*sh site originally, some people do silly things when they cut off their hair just to have a laugh, she could have done it for that reason. It's just a shame to cut that off, but maybe she was tired of it.
Still I wish i would have such nice hair and I would NEVER cut that off!

I think that might be a woman entering a buddhist monastery...

When she goes out she might grow it out again.

Or maybe she learned she has to cut her hair?

There is so much we do not know.

It's sad - loosing that beautiful hair. But it will grow back.

I can't help but think for some reason that maybe she had to do it for surgery. I know a few people who had to have small tumors removed or other such medical needs arose that they had to shave part of their hair off.

I agree though, if I ever had gorgeous long hair like that, I'm afraid I'd never be able to cut it without it being a life or death situation.

I saw someone who had the opposite of this (a girl with a thigh length 'mohawk' with the sides shaved) at University the other day. I was a bit shocked up it seemed intentional and she was 'rocking it' so whatever floats your boat, I guess?

I'm all for people doing whatever they want with their hair. If she intended to keep the middle section shaved, and the rest long, good for her. If she shaved the whole thing off, good for her.

Blackfire

Maybe she was planning on shaving it anyway, or donating it, or some such thing for any reason and just did that first to get a crazy pic out of the situation??? or it could be photoshopped....'

Yep. I have come across sites like that before (while searching google images for inspiration!). It's not actually clear whether the women are really consenting to it either.. The hair is often sold to f*tishists along with a video of the hair being cut.

Each to their own y'know, there are worse things, but i hope they're not pressured into doing it o_O

Edit:
One of the comments really made me LOL though

I hope she donated her hair or something. Maybe she got tired of going through a BOTTLE of shampoo every time she washed her hair LOL!

XD

Considering that I am growing out my hair to be longer than what is considered "normal" I don't think I am in any position to judge her decisions. Her hair does look really nice though, what a shame.

I do want people to do what they want with their hair... but at the same time it is sad to see that long of hair shaved. If I had hair that long, you would have to pay me a lot to shave it. Or it would have to be a life or death situation.

That hurts to even look at. I can't imagine cutting hair that is that long. Like many have said, let's hope it's something she wanted to do. There is no way I would be happy with that cut.

Maybe she'll keep it and gets a hair piece made of it, who knows. Maybe she posted this on Facebook and someone sent it to People of Walmart, I guess that can happen :(

To me, it looks like a pic that was taken midway through shaving her head, for a joke or shock value or something. I know my husband does all sorts of goofy stages every time he decides he wants to go beardless.

This was my first thought. A lot of people shave their head before they start chemo, so they don't go through the trauma of hair falling out. Maybe she was trying to have fun with it, despite the situation?

Although not really valid as she probably didn't shampoo her whole hair, I can't help but wonder how much conditioner she got through! XD

Ditto LittleOrca. Going by what looks like a hotel room setting, I'd guess someone has paid her to allow them to shave her head, with numerous photos taken of the process. Amazing what people do for *cough* satisfaction. :p

I hope she got a good price, too - her hair looks in lovely condition. Fingers crossed she rocks the new cut! :D

What are f*tischists anyway (in this case)? For here, it's "f*tishist", replace the asterisk with an "e".

If you don't get it, there are people who get their jollies from some pretty weird things. Internet Rule 34 states that if it exists, there is p*rn of it. In this case, there are people who like long hair TOO much, and there are people who get a kick from seeing someone with long hair getting it cut off, usually as a sign of submission.

If you still don't get it, ask, I'm sure someone will be able to PM you with more info.

I was horrified looking at the pic.
I visualized a cruel prank where you wake up and your "buddies" have buzzed your hair.
I'd cry and cry and cry and visit my therapist where I'd cry and cry and cry.

This does really look quite similar to a couple pictures and videos I've seen from hair cutting f*tish sites.

Is it not just a picture of the process of someone shaving off all her hair?

Kelikea

Three good options:
surgery
entering monastery
donating hair for wigs (my first guess)

My ex-husband did that too once after a holiday and I took pictures, it was just total sillyness.

As for the f*tsh sites and stuff, I first came across that on EBay, there was pretty weird stuff in the search for hair products. One guy was selling video's of hair cuts. I was WT*?!? He seemed a hairdresser and I think he filmed it secretly, the b*stard!

Years ago I used to teach 'Beginner's Internet' as an evening class. I always used to issue the warning that "at some time in the next 5 sessions one or more of you willfind the smut by accident, it's just a fact of life on the Internet so just laugh and move on" - I must have run that course a dozen times and I was never wrong. Actually, my favourite one was a lady of a certain age who thought that when she saw a link to Victoria's Secret thought this might tell her fascinating things about her favourite British monarch...

As to this photo, well I'm pretty certain that it's produced for the specialist market as it were..

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen the pics from this "photoshoot", or a very similar one. It's obviously in the middle of shaving it all off. I'm 99% sure it's for f-tish purposes.

Plus, it would make a really ridiculous haircut, coming from someone who shaved half her hair for 2 years, that means something :P

That could be another explanation, but people who do that, go to the temple to get it done.

(Btw those temples earn a gazillion bucks from that hair, it all gets sold for wigs/extensions. Well, at least it doesn't go to waste and there will be people who will be happy with their new wigs or hair extensions. But that's a whole different topic)
