Nice!!!! Seems easier than a crown braid ;)

I never got the crown braid so thank you for doing an easier style this month. :) I'll get right on it.

ETA: So I didn't get it quite right. Not sure how I'm supposed to work around the other strands while I'm weaving and that may have been the problem. I'll try again, maybe on wet hair, to see if I can get it. Anyway here is my first attempt.

I'll definitly try that, and give it a go tomorrow, right now I'm to tired to understand the intructions...
And it's looks really beautiful and very hard to do, even if it's not.

Does anyone know what this might look like if you braided the sections first? I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting my wily hair to just four pins without braiding first.

If I attempt this, I'll post pictures.

Here's my braided attempt. It looks sort of cool (if messy -- I did this first thing in the morning, right out of bed).

I tried this without braids to start but had so many little ends sticking out I redid it with braids. I bet this would look amazing with herringbone braids, but oof, that would take a while.

Well...I'm not sure I got it quite right.

Wow! That braided weave is amazing!

Did you have to secure it with an anchor elastic to start out with the braids?

Ooh, dang, I've tried to do this one multiple times. Right now, my hair's just too thick/short (APL) to do it (by juuuust a scootch); maybe by the end of the month...

I'd like to see it, too, as I ran into problems with the sections awaiting their turn for weaving being very obnoxious, butting into the one I was trying to weave, pushing ahead, sabotaging my efforts. Rotten, spoiled hair....!

I'm thinking that it might be easier to keep the other strands out of the way where they braided and I'll try that, too. But I'd still like to do the bun.

What are the rest of you doing with your extra sections? It's the most difficult for that first woven strand, but the next one ran into problems, too. By the time I got to the final strand it was totally out of control and full-scale stinky.... :o(

I did the vertical split, then the horizonal. With horizonal A, I put in a brown mid size claw, with the other horizonal C , I used a black mid size claw. Kept the strands from wanting to meld back together.
I'm not know for my coordination, so I color code when I think there's gonna be a problem. Thankfully this wasn't; but using the claws kept the hair together & I could grap or move beneath & over the sections like a rope.
Hope this is helpful.

I did this one the other day and loved the way one side looked, but the opposite side was lacking. For some reason all of my ends ended up in the same spot and that area was quite bare compared to the other side. I don't see how that happened since each strand stars in a different place?

Also, I struggled with keeping the strands under wraps while I was working with the others. I found that ponying them near the middle of the strand helped. They were easy to move around, and nothing to get the working strand caught up in.

I guess I need to wait longer for this bun :-(

I love this! I tried it, and it turned out horrible, but that was purely due to error on my part. I was really surprised that it worked for me, since I have next to no hair.

This picture was taken after a whole day at work and I'm really surprised it held up so well. I do like the look of it but I try to stay away from elastics as much as I can so it won't be a regular bun for me.

i love your bun maria asa, its very nice. I could almost picture that as a nice low side bun with a few wispy tendrils left out around your face... I cant wait to try this bun out. :)

Here's mine!

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=8898&pictureid=116344

It's a bit lopsided because my hair is only BSL and as the bun grew each piece covered the left side but made it less and less far around towards the right. I might try again wrapping in different directions to distribute the hair more evenly, but I like this bun! It held like a rock. :)

I did this bun a few days ago:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=2415&pictureid=116498

Don't like this photo much... trying to take a picture of the extreme back of my head by myself results in a bulgy neck. :D Besides that, I think I've got a bit too much length for this bun; the woven bits in the centre got covered up. I actually pinned the worst bits back.

And here's my first attempt at Isilya's woven bun, 3 years ago:

Wanky photo angle since I took it myself, but at least the bun kind of worked. Actually, I'm really chuffed! I didn't use any pins, though. I'm just no good with pins, so I'm wondering how long it will take to fall down, lol.

Skaempfer, it looks great!

(also, I'm impressed with your self-photography skills)

I didn't secure mine with pins, either, because I tend to like to be minimalist and have the fewest things sticking into my scalp as possible. It held up for a good number of hours for me, if I'm remembering correctly. :)

Thank you, Yozhik! I was quite pleased, since I was holding the camera with one hand and turning my head as far left as I could without doing a Linda Blair imitation!

I was also quite pleased at how long it held up; until I took it down, actually, so about five hours. It's quite a stable, pretty, deceptively simple style :)
