Hi all! I'm somewhat new to this forum (I occasionally lurk for hair care tips), but not new to "growing out" my hair.

I have very curly hair and have never in my life kept it long. Six years ago it was to my waist and I decided to cut it to my chin... which I totally regretted doing and vowed to never cut it again (except for trims). Anyway, it has reached my tailbone and I'll probably go forward to classic now... which is the longest I'd imagine I'll keep it at.

I wash once a week with SLS free shampoo/conditioner... and use WO every 2-3 days inbetween. I use Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner and coconut oil, which I love.

Okay, here are a couple of cell phone pictures... I'm not talented enough to use my DSLR in my mirror on myself :p

March, when my hair was a smidge past my hips:

Today, tailbone length achieved! :cheese:

Thanks!

For years I fought with my curls. When I was in middle school, it seemed all of the other girls had straight blonde hair. I finally accepted my dark curly hair about 6 years ago, and now I love it.

After HATING the maintenance of short hair (straightening it ALL the time), I decided to just roll with what I was born with!

grats on your length! but I can't help but notice you have 3b listed as your hair type, and it's not tight enough. your hair looks more like 2c. Big curls, I love them! Have you ever tried skip curling locks of your hair? I think you'd get some nice corkscrewing effects...

I have to agree with this, I too think your hair is more a 2c than 3b; its beautiful too btw and congraz on reaching a lovely length on you.

How much happier - and peaceful! - this world might well be if everyone had the wisdom to come to this level of self-acceptance and enjoy being the unique, wonderful people they are instead of always trying to fit into someone else's version of how they should be.

Your hair is gorgeous - continue to love and enjoy it!

You have my dream hair :) What's your typical washing, drying and styling routine?

Thanks for the comments! :D

I took another look at the hair typing, and I'd probably put myself as a 3a rather than a 2c. I'll post up a picture that shows the curls better. Of course my DSLR battery died and I'm waiting on a new one in the mail now!

My typical washing/drying/styling routine is this:

I wash my hair once a week with Burt's Bees shampoo and conditioner. Then I add Mixed Chicks, a tiny dab of coconut oil, and gel (Bio Silk Rock Hard Gelee). I pin it up with bobby pins and then let it dry naturally.

I wish with WO every 2-3 days as well, and do the same styling routine. Seems to work the best for my hair. I've tried SO many things!

Oh yeah, I also dab my wet hair with a t-shirt rather than a towel. I've found it to really help with eliminating frizz :)

You have very beautiful hair and I agree with you. I think you are more closer to 3a. 2c is distinct S-waves and the odd spiral curl forming here and there and it looks like your hair has more spiral then that. just my opinion :)

i agree with the whole 2c to 3a thing. I think you are probably one on some days, and the other on other days, or a mixture of both on some days, like me. I love your hair by the way, its so beautiful :)
