Hi Fellow LHC-ers,

I recently went from a blunt hemline to more of a gentle U. I like the look when the hair is down, however, braids have become a problem with a tassel that seems to have one long thin section, and pony tails no longer look as nice - it is almost like there is one section that is too long there, too.

My questions for all of you - if you have a U shaped hemline, how does your hair look braided and ponytailed? I expected it to look better in a tail, not worse.

My hair has gotten much wavier of late, and I'm wondering if my hair isn't cut very evenly and that is what is causing the problem, not the hemline shape. . . Perhaps there really is a longer section causing my problem? It's so hard to tell looking at your own hair. . .

Insight?

I have a U-shaped hemline and also sometimes get that one longer strand.

I think partially it has to do with how you section your three strands that you're going to braid, so maybe that will help?

Also, you could try tying off your hair further up and giving yourself a longer tassel -- that'll camouflage some unevenness, too.

Thirdly, I don't know if this will help you, but I've noticed that my curls (which are really more like wurls or waves on the rest of my head) are pretty defined at the ends of my hair, so usually my tassel ends up winding into a cute curl, which also helps to disguise any issues with the hemline.

I hope that helps! :flower:

I still have a u shape, used to have a severe v shape but trimmed the v off.I love to wear a long braid down my back.I have layers from APL to waist.I found braiding only 3 inches or so,then adding a flexi 8 clip gives me a nice long thick tassel. If I braid to the end the taper and shorter ends sticking out due to my layers I think looks awful on me.Try a short braid with a long thicker looking tassel, your ends look more even doing this..

To even up your braids, you might want to try and "trap" the shorter strands..that is, surround them with longer strands, then braid away.

What you do is braid about half way down the braid, then examine the lengths of the hair in each section. If you notice some hairs are shorter than the others, try resectioning the strands so that the shorter strands are "surrounded" by longer ones. The longer strands will "trap" the shorter strands and hold them in place, making braiding easier.

This only works if you can actually see the hair as you're braiding it.

Resurrecting this thread as I found it while searching for a similar issue.

I have a gentle U-shaped hemline (Feye's/Spidermom's method) and like to wear a high ponytail. When in a ponytail, there are two longer strands that make it look a bit scruffy:

Through some gymnastics I've managed to trace these sections to either side of the crown of my head.

I could trim these sections a bit, but I don't know whether that would affect the look of the hemline in general.

Has anyone else thought about this issue and attempted to cut the hair in a way that looks even in a ponytail, and also good when down? Or is there a way instead to gather the hair differently into the ponytail, similar to the braiding technique Madora describes above?

You just have to play with how you split your hair for braiding. My hair is in a deep u hemline. Sometimes my braid tails are a little wonky, but it is possible to split it so it isn't too bad. I attached a picture of my current braid tassle and also a picture of how my hemline is. Please excuse the braid shred, I've had it in for over 7 hours. https://i.postimg.cc/FYrhhJsy/20201215-071538.jpg (https://postimg.cc/FYrhhJsy)https://i.postimg.cc/gnqY9Kdc/20201215-141631.jpg (https://postimg.cc/gnqY9Kdc)
