View Full Version : Beeswax in my hair? Good or bad?

I was given a jar of "moisturizing stuff", that has ingredients that look good for my hair, except it also contains beeswax. (The ingredients are: olive oil, sweet almond oil, beeswax, shea butter, Vit. E oil, and some essential oils.) It's not actually even for hair, but for dry skin. I've used some on my hair, though, as an oil leave-in and a pre-wash oiling. I'm wondering if the beeswax is a problem? My hair seems to like it, but I have only used it a few times. What do you think? Is it not a good idea to be putting beeswax on my hair?

It's found in some commercial hold products, such as John Masters Organics Hair Pomade (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013LQOKA?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1). So I am guessing that it will probably shampoo out, but perhaps not with the greatest of ease.

I used it long ago in Knotty Boy Dread Wax (http://www.amazon.com/Knotty-Boy-Dread-Wax-Light/dp/B000B891XS/ref=sr_1_9?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1317262217&sr=1-9), which does not wash out and is probably not the look you are going for. :D
