hey everyone, im posting here after a long time. Been busy with my hairstylist job.
Ok, so everyone here who uses henna for their hair, they apply in their particular way, there are many different ways to apply it.
Here I apply it in my way, but its always good to learn new and different ways for the application, which im sure would be helpfull for everyone.

So, can you share pictures of yours with henna on your hair, that way it would be easier to know how its applied.

As i feel, a picture speaks more than words :)

Waiting for replies.

I think people aren't replying because it's hard to take pictures when your hands are covered in henna! Also it's not the most attractive sight, but i did find a video from the henna for hair website (http://www.hennaforhair.com/) showing how to apply it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OObcuc6KpA4&feature=player_embedded#!

That's basically the same way i do, taking sections and applying at the roots first then sort of painting it on down the sections with my hands. Once it's all on i *smoosh* it a bit (technical word!) and saran wrap/cling film.

You know...I understand that you meant this to be mostly informative but this could turn out to be a fairly entertaining thread. :D
When I clicked on the link I was thinking of pictures of us after the henna had already been applied.
I know I look a sight once I've gotten past the applying stage (IE: Swamp Thing) and into the marinating stage: random stained clothing, ears covered with ear protectors (they look like mini clear showercaps), silver heat cap, and a beanie...

Anyhow, I think Bunnybee is right. It would be incredibly messy and hard to take photos during the process of applying.
What I usually do is as follows

Full Head:
Put henna in squeezy hair color bottle
Protect ears w/ the mini shower cap thingies I mentioned
Put vasaline around my hairline, etc
Place henna on roots first
Smoosh in
Section into about 8 sections
Stand in shower and drizzle/smoosh henna into those sections until good and saturated
Smoosh sections back together and apply any leftover henna and smoosh more
Pile hair on head
Place silver heat cap on hair followed by beanie
I'll also put a large towel over the beanie if it's A) cold or B) I'm going to be sleeping w/ the henna in my hair

Roots Only:
Pretty much similar to Full Head except I'll do roots only and let that sit.
An hour before I'm ready to rinse I'll mix leftover henna w/ conditioner and smoosh that through the rest of the hair, rewrap, and let it all sit for an hour

hey hey. you did not understand.
im asking for the pictures after the henna is completely applied, and you have cleaned yourself and your hands, and when its the waiting time.
Surely then the pictures can be taken. cant they?

Honestly, if you want pictures of that...... Well all you are going to get are pictures of us with a ton of saran wrap on my head (and my husband has a death threat out on him if he takes a picture of me as a "Cone Head" as he likes to call it). Those wouldn't be very helpful in learning to apply henna :(

Application with a squeeze bottle is the only way to go, IMO.

You can snip off the end to make it larger. And if you use an electric mixer (beater), you can get it lump-free.

Not sure how pictures of already-applied henna would help with learning the application process, though. That would be like looking at a picture of a car to figure out how to paint a vehicle, wouldn't it?

I agree. I don't think you could tell much about how it was applied by looking at an after pic.....

I glop mine on, with no rhyme or reason, and then pile it up on top of my head. No real method there, and looking at pics probably wouldn't help any.....

I also agree with this statement. I use either a hair color spatula to apply mine or the squeeze bottle method but in the end it all ends up looking the same so it wouldn't help much. Besides, I wouldn't post pics of myself looking that dreadful for all the money in the world :)

im a professional hairstylist. And i can easily get to know how it has been applied just by looking at the pic. Thats professionalism :)

Looks more like hubris than professionalism from my point of view.... :)

Hey, didn't you already have a thread exactly the same, and people told you the same things? I'm sure I answered in that a few days ago. We can tell you how we apply henna but most of us won't take a picture for anything. Generally, no matter what way we apply it, making sure that everything is covered in henna means the end mass on our head looks very similar. My method, which I described in the other thread, would look the same in the end as anyone who applied via glopping on, or using a bottle, if they were to bun it at the end and add a little henna on top. It is very hard to guess from a picture what they have done. Henna is not like a plain old hair dye, and everyone comes up with their own little things.
For example, on your previous thread, there was a picture of (sorry can't remember who) a head of henna, slicked back into a flat bun, and using a completely different method, mine looks pretty much the same.
If you really want to see how people apply it, do a YouTube search. Although most I have seen do the glop on from bottom up method, it's going to be more informative than end pictures from us.

ETA: I just looked and saw you have at least three threads which are basically asking the same thing. I don't know about others, but I find it a little annoying when the same person posts essentially the same question over and over.

I am sorry, but from my end result, there is NO WAY that you would be able to tell whether I use a squirt bottle, a paint brush, glob it on with my hands, or dip my head upside down in a bucket of henna. There is no way to tell from a picture of the mass of henna'ed hair on my head how I apply it.....

I don't mean to sound rude, but I too am getting a little tired of seeing this same question asked over and over.

I was a hairdresser at one point as well and let me say that looking at a completed head of henna'd hair does not have anything to do with professionalism (nor is it a learning experience for you). You absolutely are not going to be able to tell what that persons technique is. Honestly. I too have seen this posted more than once and just have to wonder why you ask that any of us would post a bunch of pictures of ourselves in that manner, and yet you say it is related to the fact that you are a hair dresser. Professional hair dressers do not apply henna on their customers, at least none I have ever seen, actually because most do not know much about it they are usually agaist it. Second, the ladies here have explained how it is they do their process so you have been educated on technique. So what is it that you need to learn from seeing pictures of people posted with a glob of henna saran wrapped on their head? Just sayin....honestly it has nothing to do with professionalism..if it had you would thank them for telling you their technique and leave it at that.

Don't want to answer somebody's question, fine. Someone asking a simple question shouldn't annoy you.

I think most of the frustration here is that the OP in this case has posted several threads, asking the exact same thing. She has been responded to politely, and repeatedly, and in some cases has even been directed to other sites that may assist her. Yet, she continues to post the same question over and over.

That. And her story is totally inconsistent with each post.

Seriously, why don't you take it easier? I am sure she wanted to create a FUN topic where people could post picture of them with henna on their head...
I am a member of the french forum " le jardin des chevelus" and we have a similar topic, which is very fun ..
why so serious?

If you really want to see, I took a bunch of pictures of how I did it when I first hennaed my head. They are in the album 'henna trip'.

Not much to really look at though.

Not sure if I should say anything here, but the OP found me on facebook because I mentioned using henna, and she also asked me to show her how my hair looks after I applied all of the henna. After asking me repeatedly I became just as annoyed as everyone else here, and after explaining that it's not even possible to see how one applied henna to their hair after it's all done, she still did not take no for an answer. I'm not sharing this to be rude toward the OP, but because I'm not the only one out there that this will happen to. =\

It was already weird !

As the owner of two salons, I think it's obviously a load of BS that someone could learn anything about your application technique from a picture of goo spread all over your head. It's the same with hair color, no matter how nice and neat you try to be, once it's applied it just looks like a slopped on mess. I have no idea what the real reason is for this person to be *so* insistent that members post pictures. It's bizarre and it irritates me. That being said, I went and looked at the two other threads the OP started about this and I loved the series of pics that one member posted of the whole process. They were awesome ! What a good sport she is :)

All I know is she became very rude and disrespectful toward me after I told her I wouldn't take a picture of my hair, and she was overall highly immature about the situation. I'm not concerned if she reads this because that's just not how you treat people, let alone a stranger in a completely different country. I'm also not concerned about her finding out who I am on here, because I haven't put up any pictures and I'm pretty sure my real name isn't on here either. When I saw that she posted the same question on here multiple times, that made me feel REALLY weird and got me thinking why is this such a big deal? She told me everything that has been said here in her posts, and I find it very odd that she has changed up her story a couple times. Anyway, I know that her intention was to find out different ways that people apply henna to their hair, but they way she was asking for it made no sense and she just kept pushing and pushing. I'm not usually a mean person but when my buttons keep being pushed I'll eventually snap >.<
