I'm heading to the shore for the week, and I can't wait!!!
Any advice on how to save my mane from the salty water and sun rays?
I'm bringing a hat and coconut oil as my first aid kit.... but any other ideas?

Have a fun vacation!

Tips: Wet hair with tap water before going into the ocean or pool, this will keep it from soaking up much chlorine or salt water since it is already drenched. If you can, load your hair up with conditioner or oil right before swimming too. As soon as possible after getting out rinse your hair with tap water again (outdoor shower?) and when you get back to your room/beach house/whatever do a full wash to get out the chlorine/salt water.

Depending on how bad you tangle, you may want to wear a bun or braided bun in the water. And try to comb over any parts so you don't end up with a scalp sun burn.

Ack, Ive been going to the lake/river almost every day and my hair hates it :( I alwyas put it up, and try to keep it from getting too wet, but that never works, and as soon as it gets wet its too heavy to stay up.

Not really any advice though as I havent figured it out myself yet :o

I didn't even think about the sunburnt scalp! yikes!

I'm going to bring a case of bottled water with me...so I'll dump some over my head and load up on conditioner before I go in the water. Thanks for the extra input :)

I never intend to get my hair wet either, but it seems to be a magnet to water for some reason.

Protecting hair at the beach comes up every year.

I saved the information on these products because they have been mentioned before to have helped protect the hair against salt water.

I saved the links on ingredients to different versions of the products.

Tres Flores Oil This oil has warnings in the description - the solid above does not.

This is the archived thread on TCB Hair Food and the OP (original poster) mentions Tres Flores as well.

I have shorter hair, but my favorite go-to style is two french braids. You can lie down on them, they keep your hair out of your face, and the wind doesn't wreak havoc. However, make sure to pat some sunscreen on your part if you do this style!

I just got back from a beach holiday and it was great, I swam in the sea and the pool. I just tied my hair back and wore a thick cloth hairband through the day and used anti breakage shampoo and conditioner when I washed my hair. My hair does not appear to have suffered. oh and wear a hat in the sun, as soon as you get out of the water keep your hair covered up.

:)
