I've been playing around with different ways of parting hair but have not noticed any parting tutorials. Are there any? Tips, tricks, suggestions to a noob who has always parted her hair straight down the center or maybe just off center?

Just use a comb or something (I have one of those teasing combs, though not used for that purpose xD, that has a straight 'pin' at the end that's great for parting) to 'draw' a line on your head and make your hair fall according to that line.

When I was younger I had zigzag partings sometimes xD

I don't think there are any tips or tricks to parting hair? Comb your hair all the way back from your face and use a rat tail comb or the pointy end of a hairstick to draw your new part. Also, since you've had your hair in a center part for a long time it's going to be difficult to get your new part to stay so I would suggest parting your hair after you wash it and clip it down so it dries in the new position.

I agree with Juneii that it can take a bit of persuading to get hair to settle into a new part. I have one of those stretchy hairbands that goes all the way around my head, and I find it works pretty well to wash my hair, then move the part while my hair is at least damp (or sometimes I move it before washing), and use the hairband to secure things in place until my hair is pretty dry. I usually part my hair with a knitting needle.

I used to own the Part Pizazz! Next to that thing that spun your hair around into a rope braid, this was the coolest thing ever to teenage me.

Good luck, OP!

Thanks for the link! I do have a poky ended comb and have been using that. I'm not having trouble with my hair not laying down, one advantage of not having washed it in a couple days. It is more than happy to lay flat whichever direction it is combed.

Youtube must have some parting videos. I'll head over there next time I can sit still and focus for a few minutes. *shoos away the small child* I know I've seen lots of different ways of parting hair, I've just never paid enough attention to remember what I've seen.

Ok, here are the ones I found that I thought were helpful/interesting:

Lots of parts (center, off center, deep side, voluminous, zigzag, centered side):
