Is the ponytail, bun or braid the best style?

I'd have to choose the braided bun. haha

The bun is most protective. The braid leaves ends exposed and dangling.

I think a ponytail is even more damaging than wearing hair down because people tend to tighten the hair tie by pulling the hair outward, making the hair-tie roll against the natural lie of the cuticle, causing damage. People who like ponytails tend to have a lot of broken hairs because of it.

If you are asking what the best style as it relates to protecting the ends, then the braid has my vote, PROVIDED it is not pulled tightly to the scalp.

Ponytails cause too much damage by either pulling the hairs back too tightly, by the friction caused by the ponytail holders, or the potential for damage from detangling the ponytail.

I have nothing against buns but find braids more versatile, comfortable and secure to wear.
