I'm likely going to be getting my bangs trimmed about every 2 weeks and it's free - how much should I tip my stylist to make it worth her time?

It's hard to figure a tip for free service. A buck or two; no more than $5 is my first thought.

Yeah, I know! I think maybe I'll go with $5 because it's easy. Any hair dressers want to chime in on this?

I do $2, the normal charge is $5, so I call that good.

Whenever I receive a free service, I try to base the tip on the average going rate for that service elsewhere. For example, I'm sure there are some salons in your area that do charge money to trim bangs/fringe, so you can base the tip on their prices.
