I've only had one other bottle to compare, from Makeup Artist's Choice. It pretty much has no smell except when I barely catch a hint of nuttiness, which is rarely. This stuff I just got smells sort of like rotten berries or something, LOL! It says it's virgin, cold pressed, organic argan oil. I tested how they each feel and they FEEL the same, they just don't smell the same. Now I have 4 ounces of this stuff that may not be so pleasant to use on my face and hair.
This is the stuff I got:

I am wondering if that price is really too good to be true. OR if raw argan oil just stinks. LOL! We will see what it does to my hair...

I have just read elsewhere that if it smells weird and fermented it has gone rancid - so I wrote the seller and asked them to exchange it out for me for a fresh bottle. If they send me more stuff that smells janky, I'm going back to MUAC who I know I can trust!

Argan oil has a pretty strong smell, and if the one you got is virgin and your previous wasn't, this one is likely to have a stronger smell, so it might not be rancid. But even bettter if you get a free bottle of the stuff whatever the case is!
I know I get a little surprised of the smell if I haven't used it for a while although I don't think it's unpleasent...just...surprising.

My Pure "Berber Tradition" Argan Oil smells nutty. Strong but pleasantly nutty.

It sounds like all of you have the cooking grade argan oil. The nuts are toasted before extracting the oil. Cosmetic grade argan oil has virtually no smell at all since it is extracted from raw nuts.

Yeah, this smells fermented though, so it's gone bad. The seller in his bad English tried to tell me that my *other* stuff must be refined (it's not) and that I'm just not used to natural smelling argan oil that is not refined - no dude, it's bad! I'm going back to my cosmetic grade from Makeup Artist's Choice - I know that's what I like and plus they have 15% off right now.
