Like the title says, how do I get these curls? I'm kind of a hair styling dunce, but I looove these curls and want to be able to recreate them. If it helps, my hair is fine and naturally wavy.

These are screenshots taken from the MTV show Teen Wolf and every time she comes on the screen I start salivating with envy over her hair. lol.

Are those curls or deep waves? It looks like 2c waves, to me.

I would guess you'd have to do something similar to fingerwaves, but using something bigger like a foam round?

For months i tried different curlers to get this exact look and i guess i finally achieved it. Basically you take a section of hair, throw a scarf over it and then rope braid it with the section (Like, one strand of the braid is scarf and the other strand is your hair) Make sure the scarf is thicker than the section of hair, otherwise hair won't flow around the scarf.

To better illustrate what i'm talking about, here's an older version of this technique:

Simply replace the rods with scarves :) Hope this helps!

EDIT: Hm, i guess the images not showing...Here are the links if they don't show:

This is a really cool technique and outcome, thank you for posting this! Looks awesome!

OP, I think any of the techniques people posted here would work well and are great things to try - but my hunch is that actress is wearing extensions or maybe even a wig. Extensions/wigs can hold that perfect deep stretched out spiral shape well. Her hairline looks sort of wig-y to me in that last picture, but I'm no expert. My guess is there's also heat styling involved. Regardless, it's a beautiful look, IMO.

I think they use curling irons for this. You position the rod parallel to the hair and start wrapping the strand of hair around the rod near the scalp first. The ends only stay in contact with the rod for a few seconds. You do not clamp and hold to get this effect.

Looks like a large barrel clampless curling wand. I have a smaller curling wand that does the same thing but with tighter curls. I'd guess this is a 1.5 or 2 inch. Being done on a set I presume they would definately use heat.

I would have suggested one of those curling rods without the clamps. :poot: but I'm glad to see that there is a way to do it without heat!

These are all very interesting. Heat styling doesn't really bother me since I do it so rarely, and I'm more willing to treat myself to heat every once in a while since I will have my three year anniversary of no dying next month. :D I will have to try all of them and see if they work for me. Thanks!
