How bad is it really? I basically only want to spray it on my roots to blend them in better while im trying to grow my hair out. I have about 2 1/2 inches of virgin dark blonde roots over bleached blonde hair that i only want to make slightly lighter so they blend better on the top. Any opinions from someone who has used it are welcome and thanks in advance :)

Apparently it's not that bad. We have a member with (I think) knee-length hair who has been using Sun-In for years. Her hair looks gorgeous! She only uses it at the very top of her head, then activates with heat from the blow-dryer. JJLonghair, I think that's her username.

As I understand it, Sun-In is a nice product if you're already blonde and just want to lighten up a bit. It's not so good if your hair is darker than blonde.

Shaded blonde hair that is lighter toward the ends is very in style right now. I think it's called umber (but not sure). You're right on trend!

I used it as a teen[it's been around that long a time!!!]1 had light brown hair then,1t gave nice highlights but dried my hair out really badly which made my naturally curly hair much more frizz.1 probably used too much or too often.

I used it is the past and had no issues. If your hair has red tones it may turn kind of orange but if you get natural highlights from the sun it will look similar to that color.

There is also a new product called "Blonder" that you might want to try out.

Seconding Spidermom, ombre hair is in and I find pretty the transition between your roots and the blond.
But anyway, if you only want to lighten the roots it will be okay as long as you don't overdo it.

I used to use it all the time. It never damaged my hair and its a great cheap way to avoid the whole re-growth phase with roots!

In high school friends and I would dunk our hair in a pool then drench it in Sun-In...my hair is brown and I'd get blondish streaks ...loved the look and didn't seem to cause damage long term. I remember loving the smell!

Cute babies!
