Is a citric acid rinse going to lighten my dark hair?

*bump*
I don't do them myself, but in all of the threads I have seen about citric acid rinses I have never read about hair colour change as a side effect.

I use citric acid anytime I want an acidic rinse (can't stand the smell of vinegar on my hair) and I haven't noticed any color change.

Know what I use? Emergen-C. Works great, especially since I have hard water. And no, it doesn't change your hair color, but it might lighten it a bit over time, after all it's acidic.

Isn't that kind of expensive for regular use? Then again I am used to my citric acid that comes in a gallon bucket (7 lb) for $20.

Possibly, if you have dark buildup, say from water with a lot of iron in it. Otherwise, no.
