View Full Version : Hair typing help!

Finally! Finally I had enough patience to let my hair air dry without touching it (well, almost dry. It was like, 90% dry when I took the pictures. You can tell if you look at the roots - the hair is a bit separated where it's still damp).

I had ringlets when I was really little, and then my hair went super straight. It always had body, but you wouldn't think of it as anything but straight, for sure.

I've had my hair chin length for years and years, so I really haven't seen it with length in a while, and I just started CO washing a few weeks ago. When I washed my hair today I figured that I'd see it pretty straight when it dried, but lo and behold, I have some waves! I'm not exactly sure how I should type it - I figured it might be 1b/1c, but now I'm not sure what I think! I was blow drying every day until about a month ago, and if I take a dryer to it my hair goes straight. I never knew these waves were there!

Okay, I'm pretty new here, and guess I fail at posting photos. I put the pics of my hair in an album on my profile, but I'd be happy to post them if someone can tell me how!

I would say you're a 1c.

aha! I tracked down a thread on how to post pictues from your album. Just change where it says "album.php" in the url for each picture to "picture.php". Here's (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=7240)the thread I found.

I would say either 1c or 1c/2a.

I'll say 2a for now. It could get wavier as it gets longer and I definitely see loose, stretched-out S-waves in there.

I'm thinking 2a. As it gets longer, I think you'll see quite a few waves popping up.

I think it's 2A.

Thanks guys!!

I'm still surprised that it's gotten so wavy! I guess my hair is really happy with the new routine (no heat + co washing + light oilings)! Apparently it needed moisture, and I just never realized it! Yay for waves!!

I say 1c/2a, because it looks very slippy, more like 1 hair, and with a bit of wave, like a 2.

Id call you 1c/2a, you may find you become a 2b as it gets longer.

I'd say 2a. I'm 2a and I have that same stretch of almost-straight hair against my head down to around the ears that you do, and then my hair gets wavier from there.

Looks like a definite 1c to me. There isn't enough "s" to be in the 2's. Sometimes it is easier to tell when the hair is longer though. Very pretty by the way.
