The Ochsenfurter haartracht braid (a magnificent basketwoven) braid:

Is it actually done with real hair (as opposed to a pin on type of postiche/hairpiece)?

Is it found throughout Germany or only in certain regions?

I can't find it now (I'm so sorry :(), but I definitely remember seeing that braided hairstyle in an LHC thread...I even remember that the women used to spend some time without undoing the hairstyle...

It looks like this is in Bayern which is a specific part Germany (the rich part :P). I personally have never seen this type of braid in Germany.

Certainly never saw it when I was in Bayern. (Which, granted, was only for a month...)
