My hair is 2b, apart from the front, which for some strange reason is 1a. It doesn't look very wurly in my avatar 'cos I'd just taken it out of a bun. :)

I'm sorry this is off-topic, but how do you ladies post the pictures the way that they show up as images instead of links? Do you put direct code, HTML code or image code? TIA.

jojo

^^ i use photobucket and right click on IMG Code, this copies the photo and then press CTRL and V to copy it on the thread.

MyKing'sQueen: If your photo is already in your LHC album, you can just right click on your photo and hit COPY, then PASTE it into the text box where you are typing your message to be posted. That's how I do it. Maybe someone else has a simpler method for those who are not linking directly from elsewhere on LHC? My photos aren't stored anywhere else. (ETA: Thanks, jojo! :flower: )

Some days, I type in at 2b, and others at 2a. I do have ringlets at the ends, and at the nape of my neck, so I mostly just say 2a/b, just to keep the bases covered. :p
This photo was my hairtyping one from 2009:

Are you kidding? You hair is exactly what I'm always hoping for with buns. When they look like yours, I'm stoked. Trying to simulate what you have naturally.

I have trouble with my typing, too. I believe I am 2b, but can make it go 2c if I scrunch, or 2a if I comb it out. There are many pics in my album.

Same with me. Right now, after doing an SMT and having my hair up for 4 days, my hair is 2a right now. On wash days I'm 2c, and after that is mainly 2b. Look at my album and you can see this change easily. x]

Hey, everyone! I hope it's ok to ask how you style your 2b hair if you're going to wear it down? Do you comb, brush, do you use any kind of styling products, scrunching, etc.?

jojo
August 16th, 2011, 03:37 AM
^^ I just wash mine, comb it and leave it. you shouldnt need to scrunch if your hair is already wavy or curly. Mine just dries like that, its just what it does!!!

Based on your pictures, I'd say you are a 2b/2c since your hair appears to actually curl at the ends.

I thought I was a 2a at first, but after quitting cones my ends have started to damn near spiral if I let them dry untouched O_o but the rest of my hair is fairly straight or moderately wavy? xD

So from top to bottom my hair is, 1c, 2a, 2b/c xD

This isn't untouched, at all (I'd done a lot of finger combing, because I can't keep my hands out of it) - and ignore the greenish ends - I'm due for another dye job, the previous blue is fading WEIRD. (Algae hair is bad).

Hey I'm a 2a/2b too!!!! here are my pictures the first one is with the bleach layer pulled up and the second is with it down. Im not yet sure if my canopy will be as wavy as the underside once the bleach is all grown out? (I hope so) guess I'll see.

pictures are airdried and not touched, to see what texture I had :)

Mine is always wavier underneath, and it hasn't been colored. Just more moisture underneath, I guess.

I have a number of photos in my album. :)
I usually classify myself as a 2b/c, however, as you'll see, the length seems to be pulling my curls out, and if I brush my hair, it gets much straighter.

Wait, I found a picture with the wave not quite as pulled out. Wet and combed out, but starting to rebound.

Color and wave - both those blue stripes are near my face, they're just pulled around for me to snap a picture.

Thanks, UP Lisa! I was getting confused with the typing)) My ends do curl a little, and I think it could be because of the layers I'm trying to get rid of.

Ooh. My hair is very similar to this naturally! Dead straight to my ears/chin area and then breaks out into waves. If I scrunch a bunch, it gets incredibly wavy and I can even form a few spirals! If I comb it out, it all turns to like 1c. If I do nothing, still by wash day it's often 1b because my fine strands and waves flatten out so easily with oils (even just my natural sebum over a couple days).

It's also pretty frustrating to deal with because my waves differ heavily from wash to wash, just their nature! Overall annoying and it's like I have a 1a/2b texture in reality  Or maybe even 1a/2c because of those spirals that arrive via scrunching or when my hair is sopping wet. Regardless, my hair lives and breathes the wavy lifestyle, that's for sure.

I almost always just do a quick heat-free straightening method though and then I can just sort of forget about my hair's complicated ways :p If I do nothing, it's going to become straight anyways as my waves sadly flatten out. I do really enjoy my waves when they turn out fluffy and big though. It's so cute!

At this length the texture is so inconsistent I've given up enchanting it. It does look ugly every time, too heavy to look defined but too texturized to look straight. If I comb it out it becomes frizzy and poofy.

Glitch, that sounds a lot like my hair. Until a year ago I always thought I had 1b/1c hair because I always combed it wet and it dried straight. I've been working on the curly girl method to some degree since then to try and figure out waves. A recent discovery is that heavy cones make my hair look stringy. I wash a couple of times a week. I pre condition with a mask on dry hair right before getting in the shower. Then I shampoo the scalp. Twice if I feel like I need it. Cone free conditioner on the length. Mild coney conditioner on the length. Then out of the shower squeeze out the water. Apply a leave in, a tiny bit of oil, and either a curl cream or mousse. Scrunch with an old t-shirt and tie it up while I get dressed. Then just let it air dry. Day 2 I refresh with water. Day 3+ I braid it for sleeping and up in a bun usually during the day. It's completely straight at that point. I'm still trying to figure this out and love to hear what everyone else has tried!
