I'm going to a wedding, as a guest & as a designated driver. I'm now trying to figure a hairstyle that is braided so I can tuck flowers into it on arrival but insofar as is possible not with any pins or clips until then. (Morbid irrational fear of prang & hairtoy stuck into skull...)
BSL and a sneeze, very fine, rather thin hair - can anyone suggest &/or post links to photos/tutorials? I can English plait with absolute confidence, French plait with partial confidence (see my album!) & anyway I'll probably be asking my sister to Gently tuck in the flowers (basic artificial craft rosebud type things, each on a thin wire, ulp). I've a pair of combs I could flower up too...
Currently I'm thinking folded French plait so the puny thinness of the length is less obvious and I've plenty of opportunities to tuck flowers in. My idea will probably look pretty boring from the front, but them's the breaks.
Any ides spring to mind?

How about a fully rolled sockbun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I13J7ArHTkM)? that is one that certainly lends itself to being decorated! Here is one with a lovely antique comb, and my avatar shows my Constitution Day updo - the same bun, but with a couple of accent braids and another vintage comb.:D
It is easy to do as well, and makes your hair look more voluminous!

Lace braid around the head. Because it is laced, you can get away with using hardly any hairpins.

Alvrodul - I've not had much success with rolled sockbuns, but I'll give it another try, if only for the reason that your avatar picture is glorious!

Spidermom - this sounds brilliant & the how-to at http://www.longhaircommunity.com/archive/showthread.php?t=71774 (http://www.longhaircommunity.com/archive/showthread.php?t=71774) is wonderfully clear. Whether I can make it work is a try it and see situation, which is a great place to start!

Madora - the more I read up on lace braids the more I wonder how I never heard of these before!

The research promises to be almost as much fun as the wedding!

I love TLHC!
