Heyla,
I have a flower hair tie:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?pictureid=109634&albumid=7629&dl=1312494628&thumb=1 (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=7629&pictureid=109634)
which I want to wear to a friend's wedding this weekend. I can't figure out how best to wear it, tried a few styles, and then realised I had the perfect hair-resource at my fingertips.

So, lovely people of LHC - how can I wear this hair tie?
(My hair is not very thick, about waist length, and has a side parting)

An attempted sock bun, which has the advantage of showing the dress I intend to wear, and a pencil bun with a pretty hairstick, which shows the size of the flower relative to my usual buns!

Please, suggest styles for me (preferably fairly easy ones) that will make the hair tie look good!

I like it with the sock bun! The big bun with the flower tucked in looks really pretty.

I think both styles look lovely. I'm no expert on all the different ways to put hair up on this site, but what also would be nice is a tousled bun of sorts behind one of ur ears and have the flower arranged around that. I have curly hair and I often wear my hair up this way and tease some of the curls and hair out of a loose bun. I will sometimes put a flower or a pin depending on my outfit. I think for pictures it would be great to see your lovely locks and any hair accessories face on.

Thanks! I have had it for ages, think it came from Claire's Accessories or Accessorize or somewhere similar.

Thank you for the suggestion. Sounds nice, and very pretty. Do you have any pictures of what you have in mind?

Please keep the suggestions coming, all ideas for how to use this flower much appreciated!

I use both styles, the first is more my everyday updo, and the second is a more polished version. I sometimes add a lace braid on the side also

You may not want to get a lot of things going on with your hair, as the flower is a major statement on its own.

I like the sock bun, maybe with a couple of soft pieces in front, and the flower tucked in the bun on the side, instead of smack dab in the center. Maybe on the side where you have your side part.

Your hair is so pretty, there's really not much you can do to it and NOT have it look nice!

Can I suggest using a more plain stick because it just kind of looks like the hair stick is trying to steal the show you kmnow what I mean? :P

While I do love both of your styles, I would suggest a low and too the left cinnamon bun accented by your flower. Hope this helps.

How about a diagonal French braided bun that ends at the side? You can then add the flower for a romantic feel.

There was a similar style in the Styling segment of the Articles section but a claw clip was used in that article. Also, someone recently posted a thread about this and hers looked polished :D

Wow...instead of me helping you, you managed to give me a great idea:D I have a black and silver dress with some zig-zag print, and want to wear it this autumn to a special event organised by the university I'm attending. I was thinking of combining it with a sock bun. But I was eyeing a flower hair ornament for some time, never quite got myself to buy it. If I'll find a nice black flower, and with the sock bun, it will be perfect:flower:. Thank you.

Ah, if only I could do french braids properly. Must practice them!

I also suggest a low side loose bun. That's our favorite style to accent with a flower. :)

Thanks for all the advice people!

I went with a low messy side bun. It worked well, and I liked the effect. My bun wasn't perfect, and next time I think I will try to make the back look neater, but overall I am happy with it. It also stayed up through the whole day, and the dancing!
