I like the dynamics the Greek braids add to it and I loooove the butterfly hairclips.

5 stars for always making me jealous whenever you post a hairstyle. :p

That is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!:magic:

You are one of the few people that actually has enough of your real hair in terms of length and thickness to do all of Princess Leia's extravagant styles. Even Carrie Fisher has openly admitted that she was wearing wigs and hair extensions throughout her role. Well done!

I like it! I tried something similar, but didn't have enough hair left after the loops to make a bun. I guess I just have to catch up!

My son said your hair is "awesomely long". :) I love this style!! I can't wait to try it my self especially seeing that I'm a Star Wars nut. Love me some Harrison Ford. I still find him sexy. Any way my hair is only 24 1/2" long so I still have a ways to go. You always make my day with your hair styles. Truly an inspiration.

That is what I thought, too. There are a lot of people that say the styles are impossible without extensions and wigs. Here's to proving the naysayers wrong! You don't need wigs, just lots of hair!

What a surprise to see my thread pushed back up to the top of the list :) I'll try to describe what I did to create this look by Princess Leia~

First, I put my hair in a high ponytail. Then I split it into two equal sections, and braided each section in what I call the Greek-key style of braiding. (To do this, you make three sections of hair: 2 equal sections and 1 extremely tiny section. Braid these together like a regular Dutch or English braid, whichever you prefer. If your tiny section starts to run out of hair, you can borrow a little bit from one of the larger sections.)

Then I took one of the Greek-key braids and looped it up until the length of the loop looked about right. I wrapped the left-over part of the braid around the base of my ponytail, so that it resembled a bun. I held this bun in place with one hand, and made a loop with the second braid. I wrapped the left-over part of this braid around the bun I already made at the base of my ponytail. Now the bun looks bigger.

I held everything together with a butterfly clip on each side of the bun; these clips each hold one loop and half of the braid in place, and are anchored to my ponytail. You can arrange the loops to be farther apart from each other, like I did, or closer together. Whichever look you prefer!

Hopefully this makes sense! :)

ahhh! so the uneven braid strands are INTENTIONAL! *headpalm*
always learning.
Did people recognize the reference during the day sporting this hairdo?
I have a feeling that people around you are so used to your intricate braiding that they don't even comment anymore. Shame on them. You always post lovely pics.
