I'm totally jealous of this doll. Not jealous enough that it hurts, but jealous enough that I'm renewing my commitment to no-trims and vitamins.

What inspires you?

So one day I can sit at a desk at my college like this. (http://www.rapunzelsdelight.com/new-hi-res/images/vtf/vtf158.jpg)

BTW, I'm pretty sure I had the same dress for my barbie.

My hair has always been at least SL, and I really hated having it even that short. A good length is probably waist-hip, but at this point I think I just want to see how far it WILL grow. Curiosity, lol.

That's "Totally long hair barbie!" I had that one, as well as Hollywood hair barbie.

Oh my god that Barbie! That mullet! LOL. I can't stop scrolling up and looking at it. It kills me.

Besides THAT, I get inspired by kind words on this forum, pictures of members who grew their hair out, random photos on the internet, and my family.

I had one of those! But with brown hair. It came with a bottle of shampoo, which I foolishly used on it. Her pretty waves turned into one big frizz. :( O gnoes!

My inspiration is myself via LHC, actually. I didn't even have a vague idea of how long I wanted to let my hair grow when I first came here, but after browsing the forums for a while, I decided to aim for a return to my early teens. Though without the dread mat at the back of my neck and the blow-dryer-friedness.

Hahaha Barbie! Ironically at 6 or 7 I proclaimed to my mother that one day I would have long pink hair just like my Glitter 'n' Gold Jem doll. Now I do!

She had a lever on her back that made her hair longer or wound it back in for her 'day' look. And she was the lead singer in a punk band (so was I). Jem would kick Barbies butt, and frequently Cindy's too in my kitchen. ;)

Initially I wanted to have the hair I had when I was a kid, but after I started looking on the internet, this (http://brucefong.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/long-hair1.jpg) pic was definitely my biggest inspiration (before I joined the LHC) :D

I'm inspired by all of the awesome hair toys I'll get to wear, even in just a few months.

I'm also inspired by the hair I had when I was 21 and didn't realize how much I would covet that same hair five years later:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--oDVqYDT3x0/Tip_o9b5Z5I/AAAAAAAAADo/YV4ov174XVM/199832_503710762851_42002111_30150766_4156_n.jpg

It was actually much thicker than it looks in this picture; I'd been lazy that day. I won't be taking this hair for granted again!

Oh gosh...for some reason this thread brought back my 12 year old hair inspiration!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCdFECyZEg4

Well definitely not barbies, I always cut their hair and ruined it with glue and paint, crayon etc. :P

What inspires me is old pictures of me with long hair, my imagination ("oh I would look so awesome/pretty/whatever with longer hair :D"), pictures from tumblr and pretty braids (right now my hair is waaaay too short to braid it ;__;)

http://****yeahredhair.tumblr.com/ things like these! (I think the first word will be filtered out by the board, but it's the f-word ;) just replace it!)

The fact that I look utterly man-ish with short hair is one of the factors that I'm growing my hair long :) And also a bit of jealousy ;) I can't help it when my long-haired classmates look so good!
This one girl, has glossy, soft chocolate brown waves that go to about BSL and her hair is so soft!

My inspiration to start growing my hair was Amy Lee of Evanescence. I know she is admired by many for her hair. I started growing my hair when I was 15, I am 23 now. It's sad she cut her hair, but her former length and thickness still remains an inspiration for me. I also love the music :D

I get inspired by some of the lengths I see right here at the site. Just knowing its possible is enough to to inspire me. I'm curious. I always thought that my hair was actually terminal at about waist. I'm beginning to learn how to care for it and I'd really like to let it grow and see where it ends.

Oh my gosh! That was my inspiration, too!

My original inspiration was Rapunzel in Tangled. I was watching that movie when all of a sudden, I just knew I wanted long hair. It was like something clicked or a lightbulb went on over my head.

She's still my inspiration, along with many of the people here.

Just seeing long shiny hair inspires me. I love hippie styles. Braids and flowers in long, flowing natural looking hair is so beautiful to me.
Even if it looks kinda messy but its long and shiny and looks like it was just air dried, it is beautiful. I still cant figure out how to post pictures into the
post or else I would!

this might sound funny, but i get inspired by how my hair is now that i'm taking care of it, to see how it will look helthly long. (its at BSL now) i want to see how my curls will look long since they are very tight little ringlets.

Ruslana Korshunova (model with knee length hair - killed herself in 2008, I think) was who started it for me and she still amazes me with her hair. She was the first person I'd ever seen with hair longer than waist length.

But Natalie Dormer's (Anne Boleyn's) hair in The Tudors is to die for and my biggest inspiration nowadays. When my virgin hair grows out long I plan to henna it so I can look exactly like her (except she's breathtakingly beautiful, I can't copy that)

I guess the Victorian women didn't have all the "cones" and chemicals and stuff we put into our hair these days. Plus, it was fashionable back then to have very long hair. I don't understand why today's fashion is either cutting the hair in a weird line, like a slash /// or horrible cheap-looking extensions ASO Katie Price.

One of my inspirations was Shakira. I love how wild her hair is, and how amazing it looks when she whips it to and fro when she belly-danced in her older videos.

Curiousity, primarily. I've had my hair hip-length with very little taper, and I've wanted to know just how far it'll grow for a while. That's why I joined LHC - I needed to learn how to put it up and deal with it when it's longer than waist, because I start getting tangly past there.

At first I was just growing out my hair for my wedding and once I saw how nice it was looking I decided to try for BSL.

Then I saw a video with someone doing a crown braid with lacing
I MUST do this

And then I was just hanging around this forum too long and want to go for classic:D

I don't think I've ever seen a woman my age with long, silver hair. My hope is that it will look dramatic and beautiful if I take good enough care of it. It sure looks that way on Kristen McMenamy (http://models.com/models/kristen-mcmenamy) and of course Emmylou Harris (http://www.emmylouharris.com/), whose length is maybe a little closer to where I'll end up eventually.

I find inspiration every time on get on LHC...so many beautiful manes here that inspire me to grow longer than the socially-accepted BSL.

Seeing Tangled got me even more inspired (though I will never reach 70 feet! LOL!

And that model Ruslana Korshunova...WOW! This is the first I've heard of her, now I'm really curious about her tragic story. That is totally amazing hair and my new inspiration!

Certain celebrities like Shakira and Denise Richards, also many members on here and members who have websites and youtube channels as well as a few friends I see in my day to day life. Disney princesses: my favorites are Ariel, Princess Jasmine, and Rapunzel. Also, barbie dolls which I like to collect.

My memories of all the long hair that turned my head for a 2nd (and 3rd and ......) look:
Cher on the Sonny and Cher television show
that dark-haired girl with classic-length hair at my elementary school

People on the street and in movies.
But nothing in particular.

The 16-year-old twins, their mother, and 8-year-old sister at one of the homeschool groups I went to. Thick, healthy, identical, blonde heads of hair. The twins had classic, the youngest waist, and the mother BSL. It was truly thud-worthy!!

I don't understand why today's fashion is either cutting the hair in a weird line, like a slash /// or horrible cheap-looking extensions ASO Katie Price.

What I think I love most is the waves and fullness of their hair. But they were ignorant too with snake oil products and iron tongs they'd put on the fire stove to curl their hair, like these (http://www.objectlessons.org/index.php?mod=PageMod.showComponent&section_id=6&category_id=25&component_id=158&component_type=&tab=larger), and I'm sure many girls ruined their sister's hair (http://youtu.be/1t0LyjBw2-A) using them. It was fashionable to have long hair, only for the elaborate hairstyles required for the period, it was improper to wear their hair down once a girl reached a certain age, so no point in having it cut in a style or layered. :D

GREAT pic!! The chair, the table, the hair...of course. For me, I grow for hair days like today. I spritzed it with aloe vera and filtered water mixture as taught by LHC member, took 10 minutes rolling it. Took a 3 hour nap, removered curlers for perfection. Seriously. I could not ask for my hair to look any greater than it does right now!! Wish I had somewhere to go and show it off! :joy:

I'm not completely sure what my original inspiration was, but later it became the Lord of the Rings films. The hair in those films encouraged me to keep growing mine. I loved Galadriel's hair (even if it was all fake).
