Okay, I must say that the title I just put totally makes me think of the Bon Jovi album Slippery When Wet
I'm not even old enough to remember that album
it came out eleven years before I was born
okay I'm done now.
But seriously, are you meant to oil when wet or dry?
Thanks!

I think it's a preference. I've heard of some oiling when dry but I oil my hair when wet. I don't know what sorts of difference it makes, but oil does for my hair what I need it to and I apply wet.

Either way is fine. I personally get better results when oiling dry, but some people get better results from oiling wet or damp. Try it both ways and see which one you like better :)

Either or both. Whichever works best for you. :)

I can put most of my pixie in a pony tail. I had a real boy-cut so the hairs at my neck don't quite get in there though. In another month they'll probably be long enough.

You can always try the in between and oil when damp as well! I think oil works best on my hair when I do it dry, or almost dry.

I think it really depends on a lot of things. Different types of oils work better on wet or dry hair. In my case, coconut oil works best on my hair when my hair is dry, but olive oil works better on my hair when it is slightly damp. I have not yet found an oil that works really well when my hair is mostly wet, but that might not be true for everyone, say, for curlies who are trying not to mess with their hair while it's drying. So I think it really depends on the kind of oil, your hair, and how wet or dry your hair actually is.

I oil both ways. If I'm using coconut oil I find that it's easy to overdo it when it's wet and then I get stringy looking whereas when it's dry I can add little by little.

With my "Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie" which is made up of Shea, coconut, neem oil and some other hair loving ingredients, I find apply to wet/damp hair has better results.

I don't do well oiling wet hair. It's harder to judge how much my hair needs, so I often under or over oil. It also doesn't seem to work as well.

Also, I've found that to thoroughly oil wet hair, I have to do a certain amount of detangling, which my hair emphatically does not like. The less I handle it wet, the better.

I oil when soaking wet - it helps seal in the moisture better. :)

I mostly use Panacea Hair Salve, but it works like an oil, so it counts, yes? I use it on dry hair when I do a deep treatment, but putting it on wet or damp hair as a leave in makes a HUGE difference! If I put "oil" on dry hair, it get's greasy easier. On wet/damp hair on the other hand, it all soaks in and my hair gets happy and smooooth. :D

I do both. For me I find it spreads out better when applied to wet hair after I co wash. But even before I co wash, while dry, I add a bit off coconut oil to the bottom few inches and underneath at the nape until it actually looks like it's just getting a bit stringy (the co wash appears to remove any excess). After my shower, I dip the pad of my finger into my little bathroom container of coconut oil and spread it over both hands evenly and coat the bottom half of my hair. I do that twice. When it's dry, if it appears dry I add coconut or argan oil drop by drop spreading on my hands then on my hair smoothing downward strokes, usually upside down after combing, I then follow by BBB after each drop. I then wash my brush like Madora suggests. The only place I don't oil is right by my scalp as it's an overacheiver already.

I oil when my hair is dripping wet, I feel my hair best absorbs it this way, leaving less residue when my hair 'dries'.
