Cosmetology school

I just started going to Merrel University for Cosmetology college yesterday. And they prefer a professional look for everything. I have all that down, but I'm having trouble figuring out professional hairstyles that are cute, easy to do and will work with my shoulder length layered-ish hair. Any Suggestions? :)

i'm not good with braids, anything not regular braid i don't know how to do and my hair is too stubborn to stay in braids because of the layers.
