Long Hair Clinic in London

I plan to visit London soon and wonder if it is worth visiting the Long Hair Clinic on Maddox Street. I could use a micro trim throughout. What about the conditioning treatments? Anyone experience this salon?

I just had my hair cut there, and they did the 12 minute conditioner and hair set for me. Another member recently went and had the deep treatment.

I had a really good experience, Neil Ward is a lovely man and is very knowledgeable about the GM method. I was quite nervous going in and he made me feel at ease straight away. The lady who washed my hair was also lovely (and great at the head massage!).

My hair was absolutely FABULOUS afterwards, though the products smell of Baby Powder so if you don't like that smell then be prepared.

I watched Neil with other patrons while I was sitting under the dryer with rollers in (think 1950s ladies having their hair done and reading magazines), and he dusted one lady in about 30 mins (all the cutting is done dry rather than wet like in most salons), and was chatting and laughing the entire time. One lady also came in for the deep treatment and actually we chatted for a couple of minutes - sharing positive thoughts about Neil. She'd been coming for years (and had lovely hair).

I'm definitely going back. Neil is lovely and I really felt he made an effort to chat and get to know me.

That'll be me ... I just wrote about my visit in the long-running GM London (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?p=1708609#post1708609) thread.

I agree, Neil is very genuine and enthusiastic and it was lovely to have my hair handled so gently and respectfully (I actually said to him how nice it was not to have the rough "scalp massage" which you tend to find in many places). He's the co-owner of the salon and his domain is downstairs, with the the longhair sink, the hood drier and the electric heat cap which is worn to maximise the effect of the treatments.

His partner Patrick Ludde in the mainstream salon upstairs specialises in colour and I may ask him to sort out my year's worth of roots/tone down my yellow highlights (though Neil told me that this couldn't be done at the same visit as a deep treatment because you have to wait 3 days after the d.t. before getting your hair wet).

He suggested that the iffy patch on my scalp which has been bothering me for about 6 months was psoriasis caused by stress and this was later confirmed by my GP. He put an extra dab of the 1 Hour Treatment on that area and this really helped it, more than Nizoral or T-Gel shampoos had done.

Oh and talking of other clients - while I was sitting there in the heat cap a lady had her hair taken out of rollers. It was thick and iron grey and quite wavy - so beautiful that I complimented her on it. She seemed to be a regular, because she brushed her own hair out with the BBB.
